Cleo - You definately cannot go wrong with the D70 - one of the best cameras on the market right now.
RawAlex pointed out the strongest feature on the DVX 100a - the fact that it shoots at recording modes which makes everything come together much better in the end. For you audio junkies it also has balanced XLR inputs - which make a world of difference.
However - the DVX 100a is $1000 or so more than the Sony VX2100 - so if you do not require the extra bells and whistles I would suggest the Sony.
As stated in my earlier post - the VX2100 is definately holding its weight as far as price to performance ratio goes. You cannot go wrong.
