It depends where the pictures are destined for. If it's for magazines it's got to be slide film.
Printers have invested a lot of money in drum scanners and hired people to use them, it's a skilled job, they are charging the magazine for the scans. The colour on the digital image is only as good as the screen you view it through and unless you are very very skilled getting "depth" on a digitla image is an art.
The printers are not about to give up this investment and have the added problem of colour balancing an image because an editors screen was out of balance. Printers tend to be 100s of miles away from publishing houses.
Would love to shoot nothing but digital our film costs more than the models. But it aint going to happen for magazines.
For the Internet have the Nikon D1X and D100. Good cameras and IMHO better colour than the Canon. We use Canon for film.
