Angry Oh WTF Chrome?! (aka THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M USED TO!)

I updated Chrome today & something looked different, but I couldn't put my finger on it until about an hour ago...when text is linked, we're all very used to seeing a line underneath it going right thru from start to finish. Like this:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Here's a screencap of how Chrome now displays it:

Obviously, if you're viewing this in Chrome, both look the same. So I slapped together this test page so I could see if any other browsers made this change:
FireFox - Nope
IE - Nope
Safari - Nope

The strangest thing I've discovered so far is when you do shit like this:

(jjjjjjjjjj)

HOW THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE KNOW THAT'S LINKED?!

I poked around & found out that "This feature is called 'ink skipping' which is enabled by default." The best part? There's currently no way to disable it
