One other option/idea is to move smaller sites with proper 3xx redirects into a one ssl website's >> subdomains. The trick is , if your site rely only on submission clicks and some trades and NOT seo traffic then why not. But if it's heavy seo traffic then it's not worth it. Just buy cert. Also I'm not sure if all certs take subdomains into equasion. It's also worth checking how many certs. you can have on your hosting. Most of shared hostings allow only one ssl domain per account.
