Most of the time in the sauna, it is dry. Periodically, we throw water on the stones to raise the humidity briefly, but it also lowers the temperature. You never see the steam like you would in a steam bath, and any steam is gone very quickly. I would say we do dry sauna probably 80% of the time, and wet (water on the rocks) about 20%. Our cat visits the sauna too, but doesn't stay that long. She usually parks herself in there while the sauna is heating, and then after we get out and it has cooled down a bit.
