I'll try to keep this short:
We went to a party in Hollywood Saturday afternoon that gay friends were throwing. Lots of gay, lesbian and a few drag queens on a terrace looking over the Blvd. It was Fab U Lous and then...

I collapsed. Was just starting a 3rd glass of champagne when I started feeling strange. Slight blurry vision, clamy and woosy. No, not drunk. Asked my wife where's the bathroom and the next thing I know my wife and a couple of friends are asking me if I'm okay. Ya, why you asking. My wife says, you're on the floor. I look around and sure enough I'm sitting in the corner of two small walls that were behind me where I was standing. Wife says you collapsed and were not responsive for 30 seconds, so of course I say I'm fine. Still confused they decide to move me to a couch. They stand me up ask if I'm okay where I answer yes and then I say wait I'm not feeling right. I come to on the floor with no recollection again of how/why I'm there. Numerous people are around me and my wife looks scared. Unresponsive for over a minute, arm twitching, mouth moving, eyes wide open staring into nothingness and ambulance is on the way. This is what they say as I'm realizing I don't feel right at all. Not the best 5 minutes of my life! Seriously, that all happened within 5 minutes. Perfectly fine to WTF

In and out of consciousness for the next 45 minutes where: paramedics show up, try to answer questions and crack jokes, in ambulance, waiting for my first major heart attack (this is very similar to my dads first), at the hospital, more questions, in the ER. To me it feels like 5 minutes and that's all I remember at the moment. I finally start comprehending and remembering more even though I'm not feeling right at all as I stop slipping in and out of reality.

From here on out it's what you would expect. Lots of tests on the heart and brain: CT, MRI and ultrasounds. My wife thought I had a seisure/stroke at first. About 3 hours from incident I start feeling normal again. Everything keeps checking out as okay, which is good - no brain or heart damage with no signs of stroke/heart attack. 20 hours later the conclusion is I had a severe drop in blood pressure but no real understanding of what triggered it. I now have to meet with a cardiologist for further heart tests.

That's the basics and I tried to keep it short. So much other information and stories from being in a Hollywood ER that long.

Anyhoo, it's good to be home, in my own bed and alive. Taking it easy this week as we get the grandson for 4 days later this week and I need to be ready!

Enjoy your Monday!
WOW, glad you're okay now
