When designing websites I use XP (service pack 3), because that is the lowest level I think my surfers will use. So if it works on XP it should work on all computers, the same is not true of all later versions of Windows, or MacOS. And as things stand at the moment I need every surfer I can get spending money on my sites.

Outside business I used to try to keep up to date for personal use. But I got so sick of Vista when it came out (rubbish version, even Windows 98 is better than Vista) and stopped this practise. So now the most up to date computer I have runs Vista.

I also still use a Windows 98 machine, because some games will not work on later versions of Windows (I think XP, service pack 1 will still run them, but it is near impossible to get an XP box that has not been updated to service pack 3).

And I still use a Kickstart/Workbench OS on some machines. That goes back to the early 1980s. However I have plenty of software that only works on that OS, so I keep three machines that run different versions of this OS.

Tablet wise I use Android, but I don't use the tablet much (90% of it's use is simply as an eReader). Keep meaning to get an iPad simply to see what my websites look like on that. But as things stand at the moment I cannot justify the expense.
