Update: I posted this on another (private) webmaster board & someone contacted Corey from Pornhub and this was his reply:

Hi Greenguy

First off i want to apologize for Pavel's comments he should never have made it seem like being an affiliate of AdultForce and resolving this situation are in any way connected. They are a separate division and have no involvement in Pornhub.

As several people mentioned above we aren't aiming to rank for your name in Google and the pages are dynamic search page which is auto generated when someone searches for any term on Pornhub. These pages can be indexed in Google when someone externally links to one of these search pages or tags a video on Pornhub with a term which will internally link to the Pornhub search page.

I would be happy to review with you how we can address this issue as our intention is not to rank for something that isnt related to content on our site.

If anyone has questions about this i would be happy to answer them here or privately

not to be the dick in the thread (and I think Corey is good people btw), but I'm a bit cynical that someone went and typed eg:

'richards realm xxx free pic' https://www.pornhub.com/video/search...m+xxx+free+pic

into pornhub's search bar, or that an uploader tagged a video with that, or that once either of those had been done, someone also linked to that search page to get it indexed. Nor for many of the other search phrases that PH ranks for.

I'm less cynical that someone scraped millions of adult keyphrases, and ran them through to create those search pages, and then used a ping tool to index them, or some such.

Again, I get that big business does what it does - we're all old enough to understand that and accept it as one of the ways of the world, but seems like a bit of a stretch to me to make out it's accidental. Maybe accidental in the sense others' brands got caught up in the scrape, that I can believe.
And finally my reply:

Jel hit the nail on the head. Everyone knows how it happened: Porn Hub acquired a list of any & all adult/porn related search terms & simply targeted everything on it. I'm sure it was a very long list & I can see why no one there would have gone thru all the terms on it ahead of time, but the fact that you didn't do it the day after the 1st person/company complained and continue to do it while you obviously know about the problem is just as bad as blaming it on your users.

Do the right thing: Go thru the list & find the terms that don't belong. How? Common sense will tell you that no one is searching for porn videos using words like Greenguy or Richard's Realm or Persian Kitty or Ampland or Shemp or Dr Bizarro...92 million surfers a day & you really need the 3 that are looking for me?
