Question Banned registrars? Anyone have a list?

Hi All, I'm new to posting so and being involved in boards like this But it is certainly the place to get the right answers.

My question is this: I have heard and noticed that some TGP and possibly LL are not accepting submissions from domains that are registed with certian registrars. Is this ture? and before I register any more domains from gkg.net,,, are they one one the banned registrars?

Does Cleo and GG etc... have a list online of banned registrars??? or is that something that will be forthcoming?

Thanks..

Jay

I have a couple hosts that I don't like, but not registrars.

Thanks greenie... any chance you want to list www.altaheels.com I host with webair .. I sent you a PM but you might have it turned off. I have ccbill affiliate program for it.. Or would it be better for me just to build some "free sites" and submit them for you fetish index?

Thanks again.. I really feel stupid asking these questions.. I've been hanging around since 1998 but just recently decided to come out of my shell and make a go at it.. |snail

I think the only registrar which is widely regarded with suspicion is PARAVA, and I know for a fact that the Hun has it blacklisted.
Next in line would be probably godaddy due to all the stories of domains being moved w/o authorisation...

How does one go about banning an entire host or domain registrar? Do you have certain IP parameters set, or do you simply do a whois on every single domain?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I can do it with my LL script but I don't really know what magic was performed on my LL script by a utter genius of a programer who did some custom work on it. I do seem to remember that I had to have my host install some piece of server support software for it to work.

I also seem to recall seeing that some of the TGP scripts can do this as well.

Thanks guys, yes I heard bad things about godaddy... I believe a Guy named sleazy had a high traffic site hijacked last week... And the Hun did in fact bump a registrar. a friend of mine subimitted and recieved a notice stating that his registrar is banned... I just didn't want to buy more 7.99 domains until I find out more about this... thanks.

My registrar wrote me an email informing me of the ICAAN rule change. Also let me know that they will NOT permit any transfer requests unless the request is from a person logged into their system via my name and password. ie: It has to be "me" in every respect.
Dotster.. very good registrar, never a single problem with any domain, ever.

Thumbs down

Time for some HATE...

I had some major problems with a registrar named Joker.com

They killed 140+ domains of mine due to a claim that my whois information was incorrect. (An anti-spam loophole with Icann)

These domains alone generate five figures a week. Luckily I had more domains registered elsewhere so I wasn't completely dead in the water.

Of course my whois information is 100% correct.

They however killed all my domains that were registered with them. Took over a week and $200 worth of calls and faxes to get them restored.

Needless to say, I don't have any domains registered there now.

The fucking joke is on me for using them!

RUN don't walk if you have domains registered with Joker.com

Dirty D

PS: I wasn't the only one...
They killed ogrish.com
They also killed Spamcop.org - Great Irony... huh?

I dont think you'll run into any problems because of the registrar you use... no one has any right to tell you which registrars you can and can't use. It doesnt affect the site speed or anything in any way.
