How do you know?

I have never gotten an e-mail either way from either of them.

I have only been submitting for 2 weeks but I guess that's enough time to know? I dunno.

I stopped sending any emails (other than the one you get when you submit) a couple years ago.

FWIW, I don't think it's very fair to not list and not send an e-mail .. but that's my opinion I guess. It's just a simple button to click..

It seems (to me) like when people do that they are willing to get something but not give back.

Besides, I find that one site didn't even review 5 out of 6? Why would I grovel to them and ask why in some thread about their LL. It makes more sense to just forget them and move on. It's evident they aren't opposed to me running their link and then not even bothering to load my page one time.

There is another thread of LL owners vs. Submitters about not sending mails. I thought it was the one I first posted but it wasn't.

And there's really no need to take such a hostile attitude.

Reason #1 for not sending out mails anymore is some submitters start flooding you with "hatemail", calling you names, giving stupid remarks on how they do all the work and all you have to do is push a button and blablabla...

At first every LL owner sends out rejection mails but the more they send out the more replies they get from submitters who just can't seem to understand how it all works, so after a while it's bye bye rejection mail.

Don't forget the standard reply #1:
"Everyone else of the big guys has listed my site" - yet when you check it, none have listed it.

I still send replies though and will continue to do it. I think it's a good way to get more personal with submitters and if there's just minor mistakes, I say it in the mail and accept the site.

You're right, except for the fact that I'm no newbie and have a tendency to call it like I see it.

I actually make a nice amount of daily sponsor sales, (I'm not even talking my other biz stuff) and I know my work is good. I get into the freesite game just lightly and these are my observations.

It makes you feel like you're (I'm) working hard just to run a recip for someone who doesn't even have the courtesy to say "hey, in my opinion your work sucks". Right ?

Reason #1, I have to call bullshit on that.

Simple courtesy, "your site wasn't listed because either I just didn't like it or you need to read the rules" from noreply@somelinklist.com would suffice.

Instead of the clear message, "I don't want to tell you and I'm supposing that you'll run my recip forever".

I guess I could just be wrong and know nothing and got to where I am by blind luck.

Exactly. Or tell me "Your site sucks raw ass and I'll never list that shit now go away fucking retard". I can deal with that.

I had a site reject me last week .. for not capping 2 letters, lol, but that's her rule. She told me I was rejected, so I fixed it up and re-submitted

Ya, she hit the nail on the head. I don't need to take the time to read the rest of the thread about how much time it takes and people e-mail me and cuss me out and blah blah blah.

Those "thank you mails" sure as hell come out on time with all of their sponsor links crammed in them

I can understand why some sites like GG don't send replys back... if for no other reason they are busy and don't have the time.

I also know as a submitter I like to get some responce back, like i get from Richards Realm so I know what I need to fix.. so what I do is submit to Richard Realm and fix any issues and then submit to to the other link lists.

On a side note I take the time to review each site and send back info if I reject the site.. for instance one submit I got the webmaster didn't check the site in Firefox and it looked like crap, so I rejected the site and told him about the issue.. I know I've appreciated that kind of feedback in the past.

I get far from the amount of submits they get and I still have the daily thesaurus jockey email me after declining their site that wasn't even a free site, but was yet listed at ALL the big guys.

I got sick of often seeing the exact same site submitted with the same problems fifteen minutes after I declined it.

I also got sick of the hate mail.

It also just became too time consuming to select the proper decline reason.

Also besides declining for not following my rules I get some many submits that I only list the better ones so telling someone that I didn't list their site because I just didn't like it doesn't go over real well.

This is what the TGPs have been doing for years now so this is nothing new. We have stats so it is no big deal to see if someplace is listing you and then there is boards like this one for finding out why you aren't getting listed.

Once again, a procedure I put into place 4 or 5 years ago gets called out

Long story shot - sending "accepted" emails means you also have to send "rejected" emails & the time it was taking me to sort thru all the replies to these was put to better use by having a board where people could come & ask (and the "noreply" email addy doesn't because then you get people that reply even when it says "DON'T REPLY" & they get pissed because you didn't reply back to them)

Build sites that fit the rules & you'll get listed.

Not sure? Look in your stats. Look on my "newsites" page 2 days after you submitted. Not listed? Come here & post. It's very simple

I really love that all these rules & procedures that I put in place over the last 8 years or so are thought of as a clever way for me to get more recips or free traffic. Believe me, I'm not that bright

Bottom line is it's more time efficient for me to do it on the board & I have no plans of changing around my set up because some people don't like it. Don't like the rules, don't submit - it's just that simple.

1) I don't care about "accepted". I care about "rejected". It's not nice to ignore people who are doing something for you and you're not planning to reciprocate.

2) This board hasn't been here 5 years. Where did they go before that? (I don't really need an answer).

3) Excuse. TELL THEM not to reply, that you won't answer. If they do, tuff. Believe me, I'm one person who understands workload.

One point here, I'm not asking you to change your policy. When people ask me to change mine, I tell them to fuck off.

Which, (I said) I didn't know if you sent one or not, but it turns out that you do and re-affirms that the only one important enough to send out was that first e-mail, with your own links, link laden or not. I never said it was spam.

That was also directed to, and is true for, Jays. 1 mail, the first one. His links and that's the last time you hear anything.
