Do SEs read Iframes?

Here's the gist of my question...

I need to do something to better handle my hardlink trades. Jay's recent launch of jaystrades.com has just kicked me in the pants about it. I could set something up with my coding skills to display my hard link trades in Iframes and call the trades from another domain, but I don't want to go near that option if my link partners won't get the benefit of the backlink due to the Iframe.

I'd much rather just buy a damned script that can do it for me, but all the scripts I've found so far are single-site mainstream oriented, instead of something that can be deployed across a network of sites with a single admin.

So, does anyone know if the SEs still track links displayed in an Iframe as being on the page where the Iframe is loaded as opposed to being on the source domain? TIA

There's some debate about that, but I would say the consensus is that they do read them and do attribute the content to the page holding the iframe.

This could change, tho.

All props to Jays new experiment, which is very interesting in many ways, but nothing beats hard links coded in the html, and probably never will.

Scripts fail all the time.

good question Madmax, and i am interested in the iframe thing because just started one new my project where my content will be in iframes..

About the hardlinks i am doing it with custom script. From the admin interface i just add the linktrades for the proper domain, and with php includes i call the necessary file to show the linktrades for that domain. From one admin interface i operate all my domains. This is better than iframing. Also i made my apache to parse html files as php, so my pages are .html which is better for SEs. For now i can say it is going pretty well. If you need such a script i have one ready for sale, already have selled it to couple of webmasters. If you are interested contact me...

Why not just link to the iframe target page from the site map? Google will crawl the link, find the target page and index the content.

www.saucypanties.com - I experimented with Iframes and although Google does pick them up (the links) its not as good as a hard link on the actual page. For example, I have a page called friendsfront.htm it is called up into my index page. Google recognises the links on the page as coming from friendsfront.htm not index.htm

I experienced the same as Sue. G seems to treat iframes as a link to the page in the iframe.
