Traffic Trade Start...?

Ok, so this is my second post on this board, I've been on the mailing list since very early on and never actually became active on the discussion part.

I have a newbie-ish question though.

I've got an adult SE site, and a link list that I'm updating to be more automated and just about ready to release the new auto version. My question is, how can I start up some traffic trades and link exchanges to bring in traffic other than TGP/free site recips if I have very little traffic to start with?

If I can get over the hump of having very little traffic to offer for link exchanges, I'll have no problem with trading traffic or top lists.

Should I just keep making my own TGP/Free sites with my recip on them and submitting them and WAIT for the traffic? Or are there people out there who will trade links or traffic with me even though my hits are low right now?

Any reply would be appreciated. I'm kinda stuck on what step I should take first to increase the traffic if I have no source of mass traffic to begin with or offer as an exchange.
