Very Strange
I got some sponsor content that was sized at 400x600. I used IrfanView to make them 517x690, which is just within the new LOR size requirement. I can click them on my hard drive and they come up just fine. On my gallery page, still on my hard drive, I click a thumb and it comes up 405x541!

Upload them & see if that's still the case - they might be in some cache on your system.

Well damn, with all the trouble I have with my cache I should have thought of that. I did have to try several times to get the size right and the one I was seeing was one of the earlier attempts. Uploading the images was the fix.
Thanks! |

if you think something in your cache is the problem, press ctrl-shift-r it reloads the page totally, not using anything in the cache, thats how I check things that I reupload like that. handy

I'll try that.
Now, on to another weird thing. I got some sponsor content that was 600x400. Using IrfanView I made thumbs 150x100. The file size was too large ( I try and keep thumbs around 5-7 KB) but even at 40% of original they came out anywhere from 10-17 KB ![]() |

wow, that is a huge size for a thumbnail that is at 40% quality. I cant really think of what could do it, I know outdoor pictures always seem to be twice as large as the rest (trees and such take alot of space). Besides that, it may just be the program...
I never used infranview, it may work great. But in my opinion, if you have a little extra cash, get "compupic pro" - ive used it for years to make my thumbs, crop pics, and just organize everything. you can get a free trial of it i believe, http://www.photodex.com/downloads/trials.html cant remember if it leaves a watermark or not on the trial, worth a try though! Out of the 3 or 4 programms ive used, compupic is by far my favorite, their batch conversions can do loads of things all in one swipe ![]() Sorry thats about all I can suggest, some programs are just really bad at optimizing images...

If you are using Firefox, there is also "a feature" which could confuse a honest webmaster.
When image is larger than the window area on which FF renders the image, it automatically resizes it to fit that area. When you right click on the image and choose "Properties" the size reported is of reduced image and not the actual size. When you left click on the image, it "grows" to it's actual size and properties show actual size of an image. |
