First pics of our greenhouse building project

Finally got some up today, lol. My sister kept bugging me for pics. We plan on working more on it tomorrow, and I'll keep adding more as we finish it. http://www.oldwestsoapcompany.com/pics/greenhouse/

It has taken a long time. We got the frame all up last fall, then it got too cold to skin it so the poor thing sat like some skeleton all winter. I'm glad we finally got it up. Figure we are pretty close to getting the plants inside it, just have to run the electric out so we can run a heater at night and get the door built, then get our shade cloth on the top it is already maxing out about 110 inside. We will get an evaporative cooler to keep it cool this summer, plus add a lot of humidity the plants will dig.

Nice looking green house there. What can you grow in that heat? Need some cooling things for your green house.

I had a "Green House" one time.I used these nutrients HERE Great blooming Chemicals. I had colas the size of my arm. woot woot

Good choice using cs-cart I went with X-cart on some projects now I'm kicking myself for it.

We are buying an evaporative cooler to cool it, and we still have to put a shade cloth on it. But I grew watermelons, tomatoes, cantelope out in the heat and had 30 pound watermelons last year. I'll check out that links thanks alot.

Nice. I've been thinking of putting up a greenhouse on my place.

Not sure I really need it tho - there's a lot of other ways to improve the gardens that I should do first.

I'm looking forward to doing a lot of gardening this year. I've got a bunch of new fruit trees and shrubs coming soon, got to get them in.

Nice greenhouse. When I'll go live in my apartment (with reasonable size garden) I'm thinking of putting up a greenhouse myself to grow some southern vegetables and stuff like that.

I saw an episode of Dirty Jobs last week about a homemade goats milk soap company. Making soap wasn't an actual dirty job, but the lady that owned the company invited Mike Rowe to visit the farm since she thought he could use plenty of good soap.

Cleo, I use paypal. I haven't upgraded to a merchant account, because I don't do enough sales to warrent the monthly expenses, but they do intergrate with quite a few I know pretty seemless.

We went with the greenhouse because although the watermelon and cantelope and tomatoes grew well in the sun, all my pepper plants were burned in the sun, my peas burned right up. Plus with the scare of the contaminated lettus...and I wanted to be able to grow stuff year around to eat and sell at the local farmers market. So we bought the largest one we could afford at the time. And it was a trip putting it together...kinda like the largest tinker toy project you could imagine, since everything was pre-cut, you just had to assemble it.

Ohhh that looks fabulous.. i bet you could even grow some lavender to throw into your soaps...

And let me just say that those soaps are awesome. It's so frigging dry here .. that regular soap does nothing. These are awesome because they do actually soak into the skin. My very favorite is the whipped Shea butter (note to self: order more) all natural product that makes all the skin feel like a new born baby's behind.
