Making Money Via Adult Websites

Like I posted in the last thread I am a newbie looking to learn everything about making money via adult websites. There are a lot of guys that would sell barbie dolls all day long if they could turn a good profit. I know sex sells and people pay good hard earned money for memberships to sites everyday and will for a longtime to come. But out of all the adult sites on the internet some that are worth millions, and millions of dollars. How do these sites become so big and worth so much money? Is it the ad revenue that is coming in from banners, links, web cams. I am talking non-member dollars. Yes I understand you collect a fee is someone signs up for you site. But where does the bulk of the money come from? Ads? Or traffic? How can sites be worth millions if they give any content for free? I understand if you have more traffic coming to a page, the banners or links have to pay more based on the traffic. Why do tube sites do so well?
