Political rants on a porn blog?
There are only so many ways to say a chick has great tits and a hot ass and it gets old. And people don't naturally link to porn.....
Every now and then I have the urge to just let it rip on topics from religion, politics, Senators in the bathroom, etc. Think I start thinking being a pornographer is bad enough, I'd hate to be labeled a terrorist pornographer and draw undue attention to myself.... Then I wonder how it would affect sales, then I think I should just make a political blog and keep the porn separate... I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has though about this and I'm sure some of you have tried it, so what are your thoughts? |

Wheither you think you can or you think you can't, Your right.

I think it would be better to keep them seperate. After all, how is it going to make you money? Do you want surfers coming to read about politics or porn?

Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

If you're going to do general bitching about politics, then separate would be the way to go IMO. But if it's relevant, then you'd probably be OK doing it on a porn blog.
Senators in the bathroom is a tempting target for something like "he should have just joined SiteX.com and got his jollies that way".

Yes, coming up with a way to tie it in would be key. But then I think hypocritical moral conservatives just might be my best customers and it would be unwise to offend.

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

Unless you've got pictures of Ann Coulter on the receiving end of a 15 man bukkake, then count me out.

You could take somewhat relative news stories and give em a twist with your comments that points to a porn site. Search the offbeat/twisted news on some of the major news sites. You can usually find something about people getting busted for having sex in public, or some celebrity topless at a beach.

I feel the same way you do about it NobleSavage. I want to talk political shit once in a while but I don't want to piss off half of my traffic due political stuff.Besides,if I were a surfer and read a link desciption " Katja Kassin gets fucked in the ass and 911 was a inside job." I think I'd lose my boner.

I guess I'm the odd man out here. I do it all the time on the blog maniac but that blog has always had a more personal touch to it than your average porn blog. I simply try to tie the theme to a sponsor but the post itself is of a non-porn nature.
Like discussing how the world was in an uproar when Paris Hilton didn't do all her time for driving on a suspended but seemingly didn't care that Lindsey Lohan got on day for DUI and possession. Ended the post with a video from "Daddy I'm a Whore". When discussing a 18 year old black athlete who got a blow job from a white cheerleader and is now spending umpteen years in jail for it but the state can distribute the tape of it with impunity...an interracial site. |

I pretty much agree Walrus. I'm way behind on my blogs, but when I was updating them (by hand) I threw in a lot about what else was going on in the world. Maybe something to keep the readers coming back/stand out.

No, you're just odd. I agree with your dissenting opinion. Blogs aren't supposed to be about the hard sell. The blogger should feel free to discuss whatever he or she wants, even if you never get around to pitching an item. Look at the biggest mainstream bloggers. A lot of them base their blog on "SEO", yet they post about parties they've gone to, their car breaking down, whatever.
As long as your blog has ads somewhere on it, your posts don't need to. Say what you feel like saying and see if you find some SE love for it. Hell, maybe another blogger will read it and link to it. Other people are much more likely to discuss your posts and link to them if you aren't in balls-to-the-wall keyword spammed sell, sell, sell mode.
