Traffic analysis
Have been studying my free sites traffic this month and came to some interesting results.
I have been submitting to 70 LLs, trying to respect everybody's rules, worrying why sites were rejected and fixing the errors, but I have come to the conclusion that: IT'S NOT WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT !!! From now on, I will only submit to the 24 that sends most traffic, still respecting the rules, obviously. Don't want to offend anyone, that is why I don't publish the list but I will say that some of the most "rigid" and demanding among you sent 0 (zero, nil, zilch) traffic. I couldn't help it. The joke about the best deal in the world popped in my mind when I saw these results Have a nice weekend. Bert |

Are you sure that you were even listed at the lists that send you zero hits? I'd like to add that, though some lists may send zero or little traffic in some niches, they may rock in others. It just depends how they have positioned themselves in the search engines.
That being said, I have been submitting to only 15 link lists for the past many months. But I intend on getting off of my lazy ass and expanding to others. Even if just for potentially better se rankings through in-links.

This is how I came up with a good submit list.
I started out with the top LL's, then added 10-15 other LL's. After 1 month I dropped the ones that didn't list me or rarely listed me. After 2-3 months I looked through my stats to see how much traffic they had sent. If they had sent less than x per month, I dropped them. Then I added 5-10 more and kept doing that until I had a list that would take me about an hour to submit to... or how ever long time you want to spend on submitting. I have some in my list that are so-so... but I haven't had time lately updating my submit list and submitting sites The "x per month" traffic is different from person to person. But I've set it to "enough traffic to send 1 signup per year per site" - which depends on your average CTR and your average conversion ratio. |

Tart and I just got through doing the same thing .. and some of the MOST amazing and interesting figures emerged. We even took it a step further and looked at the specific niches for each site that sent traffic (we only counted those with 10 or more uniques in a month) vs. conversions.. and i was really surprised. I know that some scripts skew the results but some places we thought were "major" players barely even made our low-ball cut. Others that are fairly new ROCKED.
as a result, we've expanded our "always" submit to from 32 to 64 and have moved some from always to only specific niches. we'll do another indepth one in april (after 1Q05 is over and see how this new strategy works. i just love statistics. |rasta| |

That's (more or less) the way I'm building my submit list.
