Video cameras make great movies, cell phones make great phones, and still cameras make great pics. |

The worst content is video grabs that have not been cleaned up, de-interlaced, resized, and recolored correctly. Even from a fairly high end video camera, you end up with stuff that looks like it was shot with a cellphone camera... or a $24.95 digital camera from Radio Shack.

 I'd go back to who you bought it from & see if they mentioned that it's Vid Caps & if not, ask for a refund. |

I'm seeing this a real lot, especially with sponsor content.
I don't know how someone wouldn't realize it. The jagged scan lines going through the content is pretty much a dead give away that this should be mpegs and not jpgs. |

Well I know video grabs suck...but maybe this just shows up different on my computer because to me it doesn't look from here like video grabs..
I seriously wouldn't have bought it if I knew it looked as bad as it obviously does. On my monitor though it's not bad though.... |

I will definitely be more careful in the future when buying content and no...it doesn't say that it is video grabs anywhere...Lesson learned though. Will try to figure out why in the world it shows up fine for me. THAT was obviously a waste of $$$$ and time....

Ok, probably gonna sound like a dumbass here, but the content looks fine to me too. Cleo, you can see jagged scan lines, why don't I? Is it a browser issue? I wouldn't think that it would be. Ghost isn't here to enlighten me so hopefully ya'll can. From here I wouldn't know it was vid caps really. Just curious as to what would make it look different to me.

I'm still kinda lost too Lliandrin...and was just getting ready to ask the same thing. Because I honestly can't see...Even WITH my glasses on LOL...Usually I know for my list video grabs are really easy to spot but I just can't see what makes this so low quality.
Guess I will check on my older monitor with a different browser and see if I can figure it out..... I already wrote asking for a credit though, because whether or not I see it, I bought it specifically for free sites and if they aren't going to be accepted anywhere it was a waste..... |

Did you upload different versions of the pics? I swear, the 2 or 3 that I looked at the last time I posted looked like shit with the jagged edge's & whatnot, but now, they all look fine.

Do you have your browser set to resize images?
I ask because I view everything at 100% on a 22" monitor and the scan lines are very pronounced. I'm thinking that about the only way you wouldn't see them if you weren't viewing at 100% or had a very small monitor. Pics look exactly the same in my browser as they do in Photoshop with the view set to actually pixels size. |

I'm viewing on 17" monitor, and I haven't done anything to the pics, they are the way I bought them, and I'm not sure if I have pics set to resize through my browser because I wouldn't know how to do it.....

Browser set to resize pics is the default in many browsers. This is something you should turn off in its settings.

I run with two monitors when I'm in my office but if I'm mobile then I'm on my laptop's 17" wide aspect.
Depending what I'm doing I use a few settings. Here they are |

You run in 1024 when reviewing sites?
Why not just resize the browser? Seems a shame to run such a low res on a nice monitor. |

At 1024x768 on a 21" monitor 72 pixels, Mac's native resolution, is very close to one real inch. So one inch on screen is one inch of paper. This is most helpful when designing stuff for the real world like print production and design which is what I did for many years.
It is also very easy on my eyes and with two monitors there is still lots of room for all my pallets. Mac's also have a much wider gamma, closer to print output, so I usually design a bit light so that when the gamma gets compressed on a Windows machine it will not look too dark. |
