One domain per niche ?

Hi

I often see freesites and tgp galleries owning one domain per niche, f.e. some guy is promoting a couple of big tits galleries on a domain called mybigtitsdomain.com

Why is that ? Does this improve listings ? Or is this only done for the SE's ? If so wouldn't it be cheaper to have one domain with subdomains bigtits.domain.com which also does ok in the SE's ?

Please share your knowledge to this adult-newbie

Johan

bigtits.domain.com isn't going to be listed by most bigger sites. Domain.com/bigtits/ will work most places.

Some people just like to keep there ducks in a row, so to speak. Others think that there is a SE benefit to it.

But, like Surfn said, stay away from the whatever.domain.com things - more trouble then they are worth

Everything else being equal, it does tend to improve se listings.

This effect is less strong now than it was 16 months ago. Google has been described as downplaying keywords in domain names recently, altho I would say it still has some benfits, just less than before.

In fact, recently people have been doing somewhat better with domain names that are more nuetral, less keyword heavy.

I try to do that just to stay organized and keep better tabs on traffic flow.

It is always best to have your site domain match up with the content of your site. third level domains allow you to get an extra keyword in there. It is also something that is trappable at the level of your webserver to allow you to create false / automated pages to feed the bots based on the third level demanded.

HOWEVER, it is not a good technique for getting sites listed on many link sites, as more and more are automatically declining these sites (no way to know if it is a domain you own or a shared / bartered / free host).

Great feedback, thanks guys. I have one last question about this subject.

I read a great article here from iggy_sick where he setups freesites. He setted up only about 10 freesites on one domain, why not 100 or 500, does this has a reason ?

Im asking this because I think its a bit of a waste to buy a domain and use it only for 10 freesites.

Buy 3 domains and build and submit 10 sites on each to start with so the reviewer has an idea of how and where you build and then build more.

It's rather risky building everything on one domain IMO.

I have to disagree considering how cheap domains are right now (6-15 bucks).

On the long run you should do better with multiple domains.
I could write a book about the reasons!

Personally I believe in name branding rather than generic terminology. For example, if you search for hardcore porn, you will get thousands of results, but if you search for greenguy you will have a chance of narrowing the field to get traffic direct towards you.
So if you happen to own say, bigtits.com you might do well with SE traffic, but if you own my-girlsbigamaturetits.us it's likely you will show up on about page 423 of the search results. Right now if I search for bizzotgp, I get results for many of my sites, the first of which goes to one of my members sites and I like that

I always used Directnic.com which is 15 bucks per domain, I love their service. Do you perhaps know a registrar with a similar great service as directnic but with domains of $6 ?

GunnCat, yes I also believe in namebranding, but Im planning on building free sites and galleries, I don't think namebranding is a big issue for me since most people come only once.

Thanks for the info Surfn, I will use your advice.

I totally fall in love of this board, great people & feedback, awesome

You can try www.godaddy.com (9 bucks per domain). Isn't the clean directnic's design but is very good and serious too.

I suggest you use the boards search function to see the existing threads on the pros and cons of godaddy first.

Thanks for the tip pelcito, but what I like most of directnic is that they offer a DNS service, you can setup your own nameservers, and since my dedicated server is a bit wrongly configured (I cant add nameservers on the server) I can't live without this.

Also I read some negative stories on this site about godaddy, this doesn't make them guilty right away ofcourse, but at the end I prefer directnic.

Btw, I'm sorry if you don't understand a thing im saying, i'm not a native english speaker (im from the netherlands )

Why is it risky to build all your free sites on one domain ?

Let's say for some reason that 1 domain gets hijacked or disabled by your registrar. You'll lose all your listings on the linklists.. If you spread your freesites over 5 domains you will "only" lose 1/5 of your listings.

1.) you could be banned for some reason

2.) your server could go down

3.)TGP's and LL's don't like the template look

4.)you could get you site hacked

There are many reasons these are just a few.
