Finally - the Hun bans registrars

I see that the Hun is finally catching up to the LLs - and banning whole registrars as well as anyone using privacy services to hide reg info - last I saw Registerfly and Parave are definitely down the tubes

I agree. I have a decline reason within my LL that says "Fake WhoIs, do not submit again with fake whois"

Too many cheaters and if the whois is blocked or blank, then screw you.

And Parava networks is a breeding ground for cheaters!

So when they all move to godaddy or directnic - what then? Why tell them that they've been spotted... some things should stay internal imo

Wazza - I agree - and although its already a known fact (been posted here a few times) that some LLs have been doing this all along, and some TGPs have had whole hosting companies banned by IP block, it was good to see that he would make the reason public. And youre probably right, but the one thing that this will cause in the long run, hopefully, with the addition of the new law just adopted requiring correct info in the whois in the US - the wholesale use of blocking whois info will go away - and make the scammers a little easier to spot. The end result will be that the domain registrars will no longer offer privacy packages, which they are probably going to announce soon anyway, and the ones that want to stay in biz will comply with the US law and ensure correct info somehow.

Problem is that some webmasters are closer to the laws (and law enforcement) of their home country:
I know of a number of German webmasters with fake/fantasy whoIS information because the legislation in Germany requires for all adult content to be behind an Age Verification System. They have very simple systems in Germany where you only enter your EU ID number and in you are - just doesn't work with any overseas ID - so no way a German webmaster can legally participate with an international website. Either break the German laws, risk house search, confiscation of all your computers, and prosecution (happened to the old owner of absolut-series.com before he was forced to sell), or try to hide your tracks at least a little with a fake WhoIS and overseas bank acount for deposits...

Not everything is as black & white as some US citizens like to see it...

Actually - the real problem is the fucking cheaters that caused this in the first place - and this is just a reaction by owners to that problem since the sponsors wont dump the cheaters (heck theyre making money for them)
I understand the overseas problems - but I also see that the level of cheating from specific people, namely people from certain registrars, and people that use places like registerfly and godaddy to hide their whois - is almost 10 times the average cheating rate - so it makes sense to take drastic measures. And I think you'll find that the solutions are popping up in countries other than the US first - and slowly coming over to the US

I don't mind fake whois information and can handle that; but the really questionable dns services are what I ban.
