Banner rotators on free sites
They should be used very carefully and I refresh and check for blind links and BS and most ads are blind when I see them used with a rotator - anyone agree ??
And IMO they should NOT be used on a free site for common reasons.. |

I agree. I believe that allows for too much to change and in actually would mean you would be changing your site after listing, which would be a violation of a lot of LL rules!

They have there pro's & con's - I mean, just using the rotator for the banners incase the sponsor goes belly up or you need to change links is a good thing

Took the hint.

There are different types of rotation too. I use a system that allows me to have up to 6 banners for any single location from the SAME sponsor site. So the banners stay fresher longer, because I have up to 6 time as many options.
Using it to flip through different sponsors can be an issue. Some TGPs especially are VERY strict about any changes to the site. Link sites tend to be a little more "as long as you aren't changing the site to violate the rules". Alex |

what about hosted banners?
i never used them before but pasted one on a site i submitted the other day - din't think much of it - chedked the site today and saw a different banner - din't feel very good about that, pretty new sponsor to me. i'll be more careful with those on free sites.... |

I've always wondered if there was a god. And now I know there is -- and it's me

stablehand: IMO I wouldn't trust anything hosted on a free site because if they go down so does your money. Sometimes sponsors change links or make mistakes and move files. I have a few hubs that I have to check over again because I recently saw that alot of there hosted galleries were not active anymore.
On another note I try to to use less banners and more text when I can because it gets better clicks and its better to the SE's. |
