What do you think about submitters that...
What do you think about submitters that use domains such as...
www.paysite.info/ or something along those lines. Is there anything wrong with doing this if they are promoting that site? Say for example, you have a submitter submitting a domain... mike-brazil.info? What are you thoughts and opinions on this if you care to share? |

When I first got my TGP rebuilt and rolling again and started seeing all of those 'cloned' domains (that's what I call them) it really irked me and I blacklisted a shitload of them. Now I'm seeing that it is a widespread thing and I'm being more accepting of them. I don't like it. I just don't know why.

Yeah,
I see it a lot as well, and was wondering how others thought of this, it kind of irks me as well, but maybe it's generally acceptable..? I'm with you on that though, UW. |

I understand why someone would so such a thing, they simply want to see where they are receiving their traffic (from which galleries, freesites, etc.).
Some sponsor links don't track referring URLs, and some are totally inaccurate.

Screw you, guys. I'm going home.

Some LL banned .info and .biz domains, other say they it's ok as long as you 'do it' with sponsor domain but I think it's better to use .com domains anyway

Aren't there two issues here. info domains are great for information sites, but because of the free giveaway a lot of cheaters grabbed them and used them for submission and trading sites. My feeling is that if an info isn't an information site, and you don't have time to investigate it, then block it.
The other issue is the use of a paysite name. I own www.raven-riley.com which is used exclusively to promote Raven Riley. JayMan is also aware that I own it and has no problem with that (well maybe he thinks I should send it more traffic ). I've got several like this and I always notify the site owners that I'm using them. |

I'm sorta on the fence about this issue. I do think it is somewhat deceiving though.
In any other biz, the company would shut the domain down for infringing on their name, but here I suppose it would be OK as long as you're exclusively promoting the paysite of the same name (and the sponsor is cool with it). One of those annoying gray areas... sets off a red flag for me.

I've got quite a few of these domains, and they are all with the knowledge of the "trade mark" owner. I also link directly from them, so the domain will appear in their stats. Most of them seem to be relieved that it's in friendly hands and they don't have to maintain it.
My policy is to think how I would react if someone did it to me, and make sure that the site won't give offence. It does sound as if I shouldn't be submitting galleries or free sites from these domains however. |

Stupid risks make life worth living

I think it depends on the name you are using. If it is a modelīs name like the mentioned raven riley, itīs not ok using it without the sponsorīs permission.
If the domain name is more descriptive, like "gag on my cock" for example, itīs no problem unless it is a registered trademark. Thatīs of course the european view. I really donīt know the us laws well enough to judge about it. |

I don't like the clone paysite names. To me they seem deceptive. It's likely because of things that Verbal mentioned...I'm used to a name belonging to a company. And anything that even comes close to mimicing it being met with lawsuits.
If I'm a surfer, and I go to a se and type in "Model Flavor of The Week" then I want to go to www.modelflavoroftheweek.com I don't want to go to www.modelflavor-of-theweek.com and have you try to sell me what I was already looking for. So to me, it's kind of like se spamming, in a sense. Dunno, I may not have been able to say clearly what I mean. I'm sure there are lots like Head Boy who do it with full consent of the site owner and with no deception intended. So this isn't a slam on them. Just saying that overall I don't care for the practice. |

I understand what you are saying Selena, and on some of the sites I put members and support buttons prominently on the page so that the surfer can go straight to the paysite without any advertising or intermediate pages.
I'd rather use a domain like my raven riley one with an honest address bar, than use a mouseover to make it look like a different site (or block part of the url). |

Thanks, Head Boy, for taking my comments in the spirit they were intended...which were certainly not directed at you.
Us fellow Raven'ers have to stick together. |

np Selena - the difficulty now is that most seem to feel that they have to cheat and try to squeeze a bit extra by using doubtful tricks. I think you make more long term by being fair and honest and working with the site owners.
Raven Riley is converting well and retaining for me. It's JayMan's first site and he put all his years of experience into putting it together - the love shows and it's a massive success imho. Anyone who isn't promoting her should hit the link in Selena's sig and encourage him to start some more. I don't work for Jayman, but if that last comment was too spammy - please delete it |
