Reviews site,- subdomains or directories?

Hi, i'm a little curious about something. I'm gonna run a pay site reviews portal and wondering about how to link every pay site index page. Is it better to do it like

http://paysite.myreviewdomain.com
or
http://www.myreviewdomain.com/paysite/

Is it any difference for SE?
(I will make some niche trades on every paysite index page)

Regards,
blind

Well i would prefer directories too, less fucking with creating and managing subdomains.
I'm gonna do it this way and see the results

Well, obviously subdirectories would be easier, but I see a lot of subdomains at the top of the SERPS. You might want to consider a subdomain per niche and then subdirectories or individual pages in the appropriate subdomain for each site.

It shouldnt make a difference in the SEs - the reason so many subdomains are at the top of Google right now is most of them are either scammers, spammers or site rips that redirect to paysites. They are all mostly free hosts that have some built in popularity that transfers to new subdomains or in a lot of cases are old forums that have been hacked and are being used by the cheaters. Most of them last about a month and then a new set replaces them.

AHA! Thank you Linkster, I haven't been watching closely for all that long, and I'd been considering doing some subdomain stuff myself. Good to hear that the hassle wouldn't be worth it before going through the hassle

you should do it both ways, get twice the traffic and then you will see for yourself which works better for your style of site building and promotion.

Sub-domains are best used to separate large categories of different but related information within a site, for example, if you had a site about pets one sub-domain would be for cats and another sub-domain for dogs and another for fish etc. each sub-domain would focus on one large category of information.

So, my advice, would be to do things naturally, and not intentionally try to over-optimize.

I find that if you do things naturally, Google will pick it up, and you will be rewarded well. My point is, don't go crazy and creating hundreds of subdomains and such.
