I was just told that the simpsons last season is here. They are pulling it 2 years early. Could this be true?

This show is too big to just "fade away" without the fanfare of an official news story on it.

I'll believe it when I read it on a news site.

This is true. Either the show will end production after this season or there will be drastic changes in the production staff. I'd give my source if I could, but it is more than just 'heard from a friend'.

FOX owns the show, all it needs it people that can come up with new stories for the episodes, the production is done somewhere in Asia anyway

Simpsons have one issue they need to address, and they do sometimes: The lack of additional characters to play off of. Usually they fix it by having an outside player come in (monorail guy, homer's brother, homer's mother, etc), but they don't have enough people inside the show to make it work just like that. I would expect to see some new people in the neighborhood if things keep going just to add to the fun, or the development of characters not often seen (like the bullies famlies or the cops famliies / relations / etc).

I say the Simpson’s need to advance in age 1 year.... it's time to get Bart in the 5th grade and Lisa in the 3rd, and Maggie needs to talk then come up with some story where the teachers get promoted with them, at least with Edna.

Doing this will open a lot of new story lines I think.

My source says that this Fall will probably be the last season. The info I have is older than this post, so who knows, things are always subject to change in LA.

That would be a shame - I just got back into The Simpsons after they bored us on local TV with re-runs for too long...
And I actually think the later episodes are funnier, with more bite, and more references to current events!
