Question Technical - 2257 and URLs????

So I am working on some site scraper routines to match up content with where I have used it.

Now we all use URLs to mean the actual objects like pages, pics, etc.

I came across the legally defined term for URL(Uniform Resource Locator) to mean an alphanumeric representaion of a computer node as in 72.101.54.28

So we all just add folders and stuff to the URL to get to the actual page/image.

So, good point:
- maybe I only have to document an image once per server.

and bad points:
- I have a softcore gallery with no hardcore banners. If I have a hardcore image anywhere else on the server, I may have to document the softcore also.
- I don't even want to think how all this would work with virtual servers, shared IPs, server pools with mulyiple IPs, etc.

So, do we document once per server, or do we document every single page we use an image? Keeping in mind that extra data is not allowed in the files.
