2257???

Now, correct me if I am wrong but only the members of The Free Speech Coalition protected by the delay? Where are all the non member arrests?

Just curious...has anyone even been looked at by the law?

I don't know if this counts, but I was arrested just the other day for tea-bagging a lady in the produce section of the grocery store.

I think the even bigger question is do the people that pulled all their stuff feel kind of silly now?

I don't think they feel silly yet. But after a few more months, they might.

Fear Mongers have no place in this business. And I think once this is done and over, we should let them know that.

Well scare tactics are a very useful marketing tool. I think the FSC did a great job on that.

I was hoping the FSC would be a point of solidarity in this business but they did not seem to make any effort in pulling the industry together. Perhaps one day some organization will be able to pull more then a handful of webmasters together but unfortunately that day has not come.

Maybe one day the Society Of Greater Buffalo Webmasters will be able to do something

That would be me Cleo.... Wish I hadn't but I was torn between what to do and what not to do. I'm at that point once again. I have so much content that I had purchased when I first started. No ids or blacked out ones. Call me chicken but not sure if i should or shouldn't use them. Guess I should and not worry about it right??.....

Well I was in between anyways...just restarting out so I left the few I had up but haven't done a damn thing in a month.
I'm still not sure how this is all going to end up, but the fact that not much has seemed to happen is a negligeble factor knowing how slow the goverment is to act.

So rather then jumping in to unknown waters, I have slowly obtained all the documentation I could on my owned content...tossed a lot of it that seems never to be fully documented, changed webhosts from my several over to co-location and am working now on the transfers and getting set up there. No rush for me.

It has changed my outlook on tgps as a factor in my new biz plan, for I really believe the day of US webmasters being a force in that segment is passed...along with most sponsor content for the lil guys.

All in all this happened at a good time for me as it wasn't to hard to take a step back and re-evaluate where I wanted to go, and begin to move forward from here.

I don't feel silly for redirecting every free site & gallery as well as editing every hub & link lists that I own - it's actually a big weight off my shoulders knowing that the odds of them looking at me are very slim now.

I have the feeling that they are probably not going after anyone because of what the FSC did with the injunction & they are waiting 3 weeks (or whenever the next thing is) to see what their next step will be as well.

For all you people that left your non 2257 compliant content up - all the power to ya! If this doesn't go thru, you can sit here all day with "I told you so" type posts.

But if it does go thru.......

Instead of getting crazy and pulling all my free sites that I didn't have proper documentation for, I've just been busy changing the picture sets on one site a day with content I have model ID's for. Then I resubmit them to places that didn't take them the first time, places I didn't submit to, or that rotated them off their lists ages ago. It's the best I can do with so many sites to fix.

I don't feel silly for removing non-compliant content. The fact remains that the porn industry will always be a target...so, now I make sure I'm a hard target, not a soft one. When I buy content I get all the documentation, nothing blacked out, and the only way the Feds in the future can piss on me is if they want you to supply the dental records of each model.

One thing I think we all learned is there was a lot of people screwing over webmasters during this...hopefully we won't have short-term memory here and remember all the fucksticks that gave us trouble and tried to nickel and dime us to death.

I`ve pulled stuff that would present a problem. I was also able to obtain what I needed to save alot of important stuff. I also hope I would never be judged on actions taken under the threat of incarceration. After all they very well could under the current laws though I don`t see it happening. I just have too much to risk in a wife and two little ones underfoot so...

But it is a great opportunity to dig into alot of old stuff and streamline a bit.

I pulled all free sites and hard banners, for the same risk factors many have stated. Most was sponsor content anyways. Lost a lot of traffic, but it only affected me. I havent ever done tpg or submitting to others.
Would I have to worry about just pages with text and links? I just don't trust them one bit, to leave em an opening even on a questionable banner, plus I cannot keep records or a full-time record place.
This is such a mess, and I am not even sure if I can have porn sites without content without keeping any records at all.
I want absolutely no risk of a visit at all.
Sorry, feels like I live in WWII Germany with a crooked and really evil fake religious twist.

While they could go after the other folks, any judge would most likely put any case off, until after the current outstanding injuntion is processed.

No use tying up the courts, and wasting taxpayers money until there is a ruling.

changes and insights

I temporarily removed any content on my server which sucks but I kept the links, put links to my content providers on the index. ya know the purpose of the law!

If that's not good enough then I guess I don't understand the law. Like anyone does anyway.
I was inspired to put an explanation of a graphic I posted previously and is on a couple of my sites. It reads,
after you click on the graphic

GRAPHIC EXPLANATION
Question: Hey what do you mean by this primitive looking graphic?
Answer: I made it because I was reading alot about all the rules and regulations being implimented these days in some parts of the world, actually alot of places, and thought how it reminded me of when caveman drew sexually explicit images on rocks thousands of years ago and when people found them, they were banned in certain art museums and how way back then, they were controversal because, for some reason people trip on stuff like that.
Kind of like a bird with a mirror in their cage, it's a image that reminds them of something personal or interesting so they peck at it, they can't tell the difference between the image in the mirror and a actual bird. That's the best I can explain it.
I personally view any digital image including video as a representation of life and not life it's self. I can tell the difference between reality and a recreation either a painting, digital picture, or video. Can you?
That's all, use this graphic freely if you want, link if you like, just my opinion.

Ps.Even if you were paralized you would still have the power to look away. As far as kids go, they have parents which if they are smart enough to have kids and buy a computer for them, then again in my opinion they could take an hour out of their day to learn how to make it safe for them.
How about an isp that is censored from the ground up that advertises the fact that all there content is kid safe 100 percent. Seems like if there was that much demand something like that would be profitable, but you know that isn't the case because the internet was and is built on porn.
So insted of all you censor minded people trying to control what everbody else looks at and trying to make the worlds inhabitants their kids. Learn to control what comes into your space by controling your input lines, not yours and everybody elses at the same time. It is technically possible and a little more fair.
Pss. Alot of TV Commercials and other stuff offends me but I'm not writting the tv stations and writting my elected officials to take them off! I just gag and look the other way or change the channel.
webmaster DL

My opinion just waiting to see what all the clever minds cum up with in the final determination! hopefully honest hardworking people don't get punished for
a bunch of bullshit red tape that arn't cpers.
graphic must be seen to fully understand the commnets I just made

So you would be one of the people that is the reason that I've spent the last two weeks with a week still to go looking for cocksucking cunts that left their pages up and just pulled their content instead of pulling everything and letting it go 404 so that our bots would catch it.

My fleas invade your crotch and your breath smell like camel farts.

(actually I can edit but would never go back and change something that I've posted. Anyway it's pretty funny and I'm going to go borrow flea powder from one of my cats now.)

Isn't that a little harsh? I don't think that anyone can really be blamed- with so much misinformation, armchair lawyers, general paranoia, and a basic need to keep one's ass out of jail; a little empathy goes a long way.

In my opinion NO is isn't harsh. All the people that let me know they were taking things down until the dust settled are welcomed back.
