Porn Blogs Manipulate Google
Not exactly a fresh article but I found it last night when I was searching for blogs to trade with. If only google could set up a system to weed out all the crappy blogs I would be happy.
Porn Blogs Manipulate Google By Daniel Terdiman | Also by this reporter 02:00 AM Aug. 03, 2004 PT When Google bought blogging software pioneer Blogger last year, it probably didn't expect that its new technology would be used to goose the page rankings of porn sites. But that's exactly what's happening, as an outfit called CyberQuest has recently set up a few dozen cross-linked, porn-themed Blogspot blogs (powered by Blogger), all of which link to three of its for-profit porn sites. According to a couple of experienced bloggers, the purpose behind the cross-linking strategy is to artificially raise the Google rankings of the three porn sites. |

Yup, i heard that too. Let's say: it's fun while it does work.
Blogger has already introduced counter measures, just look at the top of any blog hosted at blogger. There is now a flag, visitors can use this flag to give blogger/google a hint if the content is inapropiate. As we all know hardcore content isn't allowed on blogger. In the last few weeks i heard several people say that blogs has been removed by blogger. Maybe that's a follow up of the new 'flag' function. |
