cms scripts...

hi there

i need some advice.
i have now searched high and low for a cms script ( pref. free of cost ) to handle my freesites.

i'm looking for something quite simple.
i upload a folder , then add it with a name, the script make the page with thumbs from a template i have made and then adds the models name to the list ( witch i can list on main page )

maybe i'm stupid, but i have runned out of luck.

anyone have any advice on what program to use or where to find it ?

please...

regards

I've yet to come across one that is free. They are however, worth every penny.

ok i found alot of good scripts.... but they all costed something.
as i'm having a paysite cms script made with all the feautures i wantet, i contacted my programming company to ask if they couldt do it allso. and ofcourse they couldt

the script will do as follows:

when you upload the models folder to /gallery as firstname_lastname the script will add it to the database with the name : firsname (space) lastname, autogenerate 3 type of thumbs to use, and the pages from the template you select. It feaures only two other things to the gallery itself. ##model## will show the models name anywhere you put it, and ##pics## will show the number of pics..

allso it will generate a list of the names sorted by A and then the models with A, B so follows.
this list can be inserted by a simpel command by javascript or php - so you dont have to fiddle with insert tags..

does that sound ok ? i probably have forgotten something.... i might need at some point...

hehe - maybe i shouldt sell it for like 30 $ a piece

You might want it to keep track of 2257 information that may or may not be needed

Hey, I can answer this one!

Yes, there is a CMS and it is a really good one. MamboServer is a great CMS and there is a module that has a reciprocal link exchange called Link Exchange Component. Now I know Mambo is good but I have yet to fully test Link Exchange so I don't have an opinion on it.

On the downside, the ENTIRE development team for the [free and open source] Mambo left in a dispute with the sponsor and original developer of the product. They have started with Joomla which at this point and time is the same as Mambo but who knows how well this fork will do [but I suspect that Joomla will suspercede Mambo over time].

Hope this helps!

P.S. One last thought. Mambo has a "wrapper" function which allows you to add ANY web page to the CMS menu. If you use a separate link list program, you could code it to match the CSS of your Mambo site and it would appear seamless to the surfer and fit right into your site.

you can test drive many open source CMS and other systems here http://www.opensourcecms.com

as ArtWilliams has said Mambo's pretty good, phpNuke is terribly written but very popular so it has lots of modules, Drupal's fantastic IMO... take your pick

I used to use PHPNuke on all my paysites and with very few members browsing each site it slowed the server right down enough for the members to complain. So if you plan on having any traffic at all do not use PHPNuke.
