My Boy and Katrina Boats

I was searching for the video that a New Orleans TV station did with Bo. Did not find the video but here is a short quote from him in a story - http://abc26.trb.com/news/wgno-katri...ll=wgno-home-2

The Discovery Channel did a days videoing with him last year in Florida. Something to do about 'Dangereous Jobs'. It never showed but apparently they have not given up since they have spent a day with him in Louisiana

How did your boat fare Chop?
I hope it wasn't one of those that wound up in a tree in Back Bay. We found some of Long beach Harbor a few hundred feet from our house when we went back down about 2 weeks after she hit. Then again, we found part of the fire station that sat off Jeff Davis on Magnolia in our back yard and a boat from the harbor wound up in my back door neighbors yard.

Bo had moved it inland - up about the railroad tracks. The insurance appraiser says about $11,000 in damanges but all I can see is a broken windshield. Funny thing, the harbor is gone but our water hose and a power cord is still hanging on the post.

Give me a follow up of what is going on with you. Where are you living?

Glad as hell your boat wasn't a total casualty.
We are currently living in pure hell, aka the Missouri bootheel. After being stranded during evacuation, we came here to my cousin's house, then rented my deceased aunt and uncle's old house, and it looks like we'll be here for an extended period. Our house's status is "unknown" according to the landlord. He says that the owner hasn't decided what to do yet, but I have a feeling they are just waiting on our lease to expire in April so they can get bigger money for our place. It stood, but was under enough water to warrant gutting and has a lengthy refurb needed.

The landlord sent a crew in to salvage for us, but they selectively salvaged the best stuff for themselves. We went and picked up the salvaged items and all in all had more left than originally expected, however I got back t-shirts and short sleeved clothes and am now in, at present, 20 degree temps.

We are looking at a minimum of 6 months to a year, probably 2 years, before we can go home and resume normalcy to any degree. We started over when we came here, and it looks like we'll be starting over again when we get to go home.

Until then, I'll sit here and sling porn and miss my Mississippi. But I'll be back down there ASAP.

I really appreciate you Chop. Rest assured, though, that as soon as the temps dropped to the low 70s and 60s, that I was shopping for a coat. FEMA and Red Cross, although very slow and annoying, are starting to loosen their grips on some aid for those of us that had the sense to get the hell out.

We, due to great friends, family and fine folks such as yourself, will be just fine. We've settled in enough to be comfortable in a scaled down version of pre-Katrina life, albeit in a town that makes Wiggins look like Mardi Gras.
Other than wall to wall "holy spirit filled" Pentecosts that seem offended by my outspoken support of risque entertainment and an average IQ of 6 or so, things won't be that bad for my visit here.
The cold really sucks, but I decided already that I'm not leaving the house until Spring if possible.
I called my landlord yesterday and he said my house is not going to be repaired, so again, the future is in the air, but as soon as we get home and resettled, I'm inviting you and Linkster and all of our Southern brethren to my place for a good old fashioned shrimp boil and seafood extravaganza.

Thanks for your concerns and suport through this. It ain't easy, but just knowing that somebody gives a damn really does lighten the load. If there's anything I can do for you, be sure to let me know. I may be down but I'm far from out.
