![]() I'm pretty new here. Meaning, I've never posted on this board before, so please go easy on me. I haven't been around for a while. Some of you know me from when I used to own and run Thumb Lords and Go Postal. Anyway, I just changed hosts and I'm looking to sell my server.
It was built by Candid Hosting (now known as Power Medium) for $2,500 roughly 4-5 years ago. I switched to virtual hosting, so the server hasn't been used in over a year and I have no use for it at my new host. I'm looking to get $500 (or best offer) for it. Any takers? Here's the info: dual p3-500 512m ram 8gb scsi drive w/215gb free I don't know much about servers, so if you have any questions, I can definately write them and find out the answer. I need to sell this server ASAP or they're going to end up sending it to me (and then what the heck do I do with it?) ![]() If you're interested, please e-mail me at webmaster@backdoorinterracial.com Thanks for your interest and your time and Happy New Year! ![]() Lisa Marie AKA The Postal Bitch Last edited by LysaMarie; 2006-01-01 at 03:01 PM.. Hi Lysa
![]() Figured I'd respond so at least you can stop listening to the echo in this thread ![]() Just mho...but a 5 year old box that was worth $2500 originally probably isn't going to bring much at all today. The technology changes so fast that a 5 year old machine is just too far behind the times. An 8 gig drive and 512m ram is pretty slim by todays standards. That said, I wish you the best of luck selling it...but really doubt you're gonna get any takers at $500...if at all ![]() |

Yeah, that's what I've been told by a few people now, but I don't know what else I'm going to do with it. I have no use for it. I guess I could always hold on to it and maybe use it again when I get my sites built up.
Thanks for the reply though and the honesty. Hmmmm...anybody want it for $250? WE'RE SLASHING PRICES! ![]() Hell, maybe I'll sell it as a boat anchor. |confused| |

lol...honestly, I hate to say it...but I had thought about suggesting use as a boat anchor
![]() I moved about a year ago and ended up having to PAY a refuse site to take some old computers and monitors I'd had stored in a closet. The machines were actually functional...but not only did nobody want them...I had to pay to get rid of them ![]() And those machines were in the 4 to 5 year old range. They weren't servers...so you do have a lil edge there, but it's gonna be tough to unload that box ![]() Errr...do you have a boat??? ![]() |

I'd suggest wiping the hard drive and donating it for the tax write off. A five year old server is near the end of it's expected lifespan. Depending on how hard it was run, hardware failures are probably imminent. When you can buy new servers for well under $1000 it just doesn't make sense to buy used.
