At little thing about those Non-refund plane tickets
Well I found out tonight after arguing for 2 hours with a phone rep. I bought my wife a plane ticket on 12-20-05 so she can go home. I give it to her for Christmas. All is cool, I'm the BMOC for a couple of months. She is to leave on the 1st. I call the airlines today to confirm she is booked. I have had issues in the past with international flights so it's like my little relax call. The guy tells me on the phone they have no record of her on the flight. I have a recipt etc. He tells me, I'm booked for the flight. I say NO! WRONG!!!! She should be on the flight. Things go bad from there. No yelling for the first 20 minutes, but then I could not take the non-english speaking person trying to explain how I'm out $630.00, plus $275.00 for the cancelation fee and I have to pay $725.00 if I want to book this close to take off time. Jugg now hits the roof, top is blown off and the neighbors hear everything.
I finnally get to the 3rd person and I'm on two phones with Luftansa and We Fly Home.com. They all tell me I'm shit out of luck. Well I get to reading the site, and looked over their terms of service. Heres what it says "Person to whom refund will be made: 10.1.2. If a Ticket has been paid for by a person other than the passenger named in the Ticket, and the Ticket indicates that there is a restriction on refund, we shall make a refund only to the person who paid for the Ticket, or to that person's order." Now I get lucky, when I bought the ticket I was at my moms house and did not have my card on me. So my mom buys the ticket and I gave her the cash. When I pointed this out to the guy, and showed him the website along with letting him know my lawyer was next on the phone call list. It was funny how fast he decided to place a waver on the curent ticket and change the name. Anyway the cool thing about this is, if you buy a family member a ticket and need to refund look over the TOS, you might be able to get your money back. |

Or you could just make sure you fill her name in on the passenger page.

Well thats what we would have done but there was no place for it. I thought for sure that after I did the credit card stuff they would have asked for a passenger name, I have purchased Airline tickets before lol. But all they asked for was the flight you wanted, then your billing info. No place to put on a passenger. Back in December I thought it was strange when I got the e-mail with no passenger info on it. I called them back and there were no issues at all. When I spoke with the guy on the phone he asked me who was to be on the flight, I told him and he said it was changed. Only part where I was a dumbass was I forgot to tell him to re-send the new e-mail confirming the changes.
I did talk to the rep about this strange purchase form on the website and he said it's a default. If you pick 1 adult for the fair, there systems will place the adult who is on the card as the person who is to fly. Some law about the person making the purchase has to be traveling. I thought it was strange. I asked the guy how do people go about buying tickets as gifts if it's a law. All he did was give me the AH AH AH. I can work with you on the refund.. Also a little update. They just e-mail me a credit card verification form. lol. I guess they too have their problems with AVS. That would be a pain in the ass to let a 10 year old with a debit card buy a plane ticket and board a plane alone. So if they can't seem to get it done, then how is the adult world going to? lol. |

They have the Internet on computers, now?

Well congrats on getting it resolved. Good thing you called instead of being at the airport and having all that happen...

No matter how good you are at something, there's always about a million people better than you

I have had that happen before where I bought a ticket for someone and accidently put my name on the ticket. It wasn't discovered until they were at the aiport. Doh! But, luckily it was full fare so I got a credit.
Glad you ran across that item in their TOS ![]() |
