Ugh @ the new Diesel Action... Rant alert

Congrats to DieselAction for dropping a few grand ( I'm sure ) on the least user friendly piece of #%!* excuse for an affiliate section ever. What a fucking pain in the ass.. First, my old username and password that worked a couple weeks ago didnt work for their shiny new website so I had to re-sign up. No big deal, they switched to NATS from CCBill, makes sense. Unfortunately though, I recieved no confirmation email so a couple days down the road ( today ) I tried just logging in. No such luck - their shiny new system doesn't support the newest Firefox. Well, it does actually but their shiny new system's browser sniffer apparently couldn't properly parse the user agent and thus threw an error page. So I log in through IE ( which I use only to check my Hotmail acct ) and go to get the new link codes... Single link code per page..?? Ok, no big deal, there's only like 10 sites. Now lets get the FHG's for the sites and import them.. Default campaign, check off all sites ( no select all ), both types ( pics/movies - no both or select all ).. *click* ...24 fucking pages and no way to export them all. Ugh - fuck it, I'll get the link codes for Camilla18 ( hawt ) and to hell with the others.. not even going to fuck with them. I hate to pick on DieselAction, because imho I would say the MAJORITY of all sponsors' systems are a pain in the ass, but theirs is one of the worst.

ANYWAY - Some friendly advice for sponsors who don't want to create work for their affiliates and thus, potentially, discourage them from promoting their sites:

1. Please make sure your username / password forms work on all pages of your website, ESPECIALLY the front page. I know of at least a couple that after entering what I KNOW is my user / pass, access is denied and I am redirected to the 'try again' page.. where the same user / pass that didn't work on the front page, now works perfectly.

2. If I misplaced my username / password.. please don't make me email you to retrieve it! There's quite a few sponsors out there that do not have password retrieval systems.

3. Especially for CCBill sponsors that cookie your affid - make sure you're not accidently padding our affiliate id's with spaces or any other characters and therefore giving us link codes that don't work.

4. Do not make us go to a new page for every fucking link code we want to generate. ( DieselAction )

5. If you're going to have a FHG/HFS export tool, allow us to pick what fields we want you to generate.. I don't want to spend all day deleting sitenames, prewritten descriptions, number of pics or any other info you think I might want.

6. With reguards to export systems, especially FHGs/HFSs - if you have a system set up to use variable content on variable templates, GREAT! Noone wants shitloads of the same gallery design with different content plugged into it but if I want ALL FHG's generated, that does not mean I want EVERY possible combination of content/gallery templates - aka DUPLICATE CONTENT. One link per set of content with a random template. FTVCash and those that use their system.. nudge nudge. Again, I don't want to spend all day deleting shit I don't want. Make it optional, not the default.

8. If a site doesn't work out, isn't selling for shit, merged with another site, or whatever. Please put SOMETHING in it's place. Redirect it, mirror one of your better selling sites, but don't just throw up a message stating that the site is no longer available.

9. Center and valign=top your designs where it makes sense ( most cases ). Not everyone uses 800x600 or 1024x768.

10. [ YOUR GRIPE HERE ]

Ultimately - K.I.S.S., we're affiliates, you don't need to impress us! But if you insist, impress us with your conversion ratios!

QuickDraw,

You can still login to old system and your ccbill links will remain active for the lifetime of our program. DieselTools is in beta mode and so far demonstrates approx. 25% of the functions we'll add in the next few months. The export all gals you mentioned will be ready the next 1-2 days. Just the last 7 days there were a numerous of improvements, our programming team works non-stop on it. So honestly, it's nothing about flashy, but through time you'll see things that you won't find in another aff.program for long time to come. I do understand, not everyone will be in position to utilize them due to the different nature of operations affiliates run, but we'll try to satisfy everyone to the highest possible degree.

Our system was developed having in mind FF browser, but you see your beloved option did an incompatible w3c update that called it security just a week before our release. We are working on a solution for this and it's only matter of time to be resolved. It affected a lot of complex platforms, not just ours.

Since the beginning we have decided to be among the very few companies that introduce new things. It's not an easy path and not everyone can follow it, but it's very rewarding. Our goal is to make DieselTools the ideal affiliate platform and this can be done by welcoming feedback like yours.

If you never promoted www.dieselaction.com you are honestly missing one of the highest converting and rebilling teen affiliate programs that never stops to set new goals.

have a great weekend ;-)

FWIW, none of the links on the new non-CCBill firont page work, except the signup link itself. No way to even see what sites you offer, or to email you (both links are broken) and the FAQ page is an unformatted XML file with no CSS so it's impossible to read in a browser.

One suggestion I'd make is never to go live with a new front end and interface that hasn't been well-debugged first.

This is not directed entirely to Diesel Action... but why release something that is 25% finished?

lassiter,i added you to icq waiting to find out more about your browser and what you experience.

swedguy, the 25% has to do with the new tools that will be added. This doesn't mean DA won't be fully operating, since the release we experienced mostly positive feedbacks and this is also reflected in increase of traffic and sales. I would really want to go further on what we work for upcoming tools, but I can't do it in public for obvious reasons. If anyone wants to find out and willing to sign an NDA he can email me.

I will. I´m searching for a new sponsor to test on paid hun spots. I once signed up to Diesel Action but never promoted the program. I started to plan paid spots on the hun in January and checked out conversions testing them myself and discussing results with partners.

My first spot starts July 1st and I´m searching for another sponsor now.

This is a very very common one, even to this day, especially amongst mainstream aff programs.

I think the problem is with the development process, and letting programers do things the easy/fast way, rather than the best way possible.

Hello there.

While we released our new version fully working with FHG database, download center and movie plugin and 2 new sites, we asked from our partners to send us their comments how to make the system better.
Thats also the reason why we have increased the payout to 80% and I thank to all our affiliates for cooperation in this matter.
We have created the system based on AJAX and latest verdsion of FF didnt support it but it was beyond our control. Right now they have released the library and since then Diesel Tools fully compatible with latest FF as well.

Password retrieval system is a great idea to add and it will be done shortly.
All new partners get their welcome emails immediatelly once signup is accepted. All wrong passwords tickets we got were due to use of old ccbill password in new system. Looks like we failed here to explain it and some webmasters got lost.

We dont pad any codes so if you mention DieselAction please keep the thread up to us.

Regarding the linking codes.
Its better for you if you use campaigns with your codes so you get much better and detailed stats. Spending 30 secs on creating something that will help you understand stats much much better, you cant call it a waste of time! We encourage to use this so we can together work on improvement in case you cant success with the site. We will think about adding it straight for those who wants to save the time hehe...

We did already released select all FHG and added back buttons everywere, and we are currently working on how to make export even more easier.

All the rest comments have nothing to do with our tools so please be more exact. We do have all the system working 100% and Soul Rebel meant that we are going to add more plugins in the near future but what we have now up is 100% functional.

We welcome any comments and we can add everything you want to it so bring your ideas and creativity on

Enjoy the sites, the 80% promo and try out www.laythekat.com caz such convertions you havent seen since 1999

Apparently I needed a plug-in update and now I can see all the Flash and dazzle. I'll just take the opportunity to gripe a bit more and say that an all-Flash site with no non-Flash option is potentially a problem, since a certain number of people are gonna have plug-in issues with it, or choose to have it turned off. Is the affiliate area all Flash too, or just the outside?

Not all of the comments were directed at diesel action. I've been importing sites for a review site I'm working on and they were just some of the MANY things I came accross while importing sites info into the database.

No, its AJAX based and it supports every browser besides the Opera.
We were sure that as an online businessman, webmaster should have few browsers installed, its impossible to run business otherwise these days

off topic this is a nice smile you got here

I personally prefer SPIC 'N SPAN. What the fuck is AJAX and why is it necessary? I'm guessing you had a few bucks that needed to be spent, so you decided on spritzing up the place. I'm sure no one here is insulted by your multiple browser comment.

Next time you have cash to spare, feed that poor Ivana girl. She could use a sandwich.

Diesel didn't try to insult anyone with his post. Our system works fine with both IE and all version of FF/mozilla at this moment covering approx. 99.2% of webmasters according to our gathered data.

About AJAX:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX

Nothing is necessary in this nor in any other business. It's up to individuals and groups to welcome technological changes, decline them or even remain to primitive levels. Check the Google hirings for Ajax developers among other big companies that set the trends the rest follow over the last months and you'll probably realize we don't spare money, but wisely invest in our program.

I don't know from AJAX. I'm just telling you that I had to reinstall the latest version of Flash before I could get the site links to come up in my Firefox browser. I did, and now they do. But it's way too flashy and favoring graphics over clarity for me to want to deal with.

And yes I do have a few different browsers installed, but I only use 'em to check my own pages for compatibility. As for other people's sites, if they don't work right off the bat in Firefox/Mozilla, they really just don't get any attention from me, period. Too many things to do and too little time.
