just got a mail from Davidlace.com

"LATEST ACACIA NEWS! They Hi-Jacked Our Domain Name! For those of you familiar with Acacia Research you will fully understand our new "Hating Acacia Sale" (LOL). And if you are not familiar with Acacia then be very thankful and enjoy the sale.

We at Lace Studios just learned yesterday that the Acacia guys were actually able to place a hold on our domain name laceproductions.com virtually shutting down our content site for a few hours. They did this by serving papers to the registrar of this domain GODADDY.COM. According to GODADDY.COM's legal department they chose to "take down the site" and said "we have to wait until we hear from the courts regarding this domain." And we received no advance notice whatsoever from GODADDY regarding their decision. Of course this was really no big deal as we ha! ve multiple mirror sites. But it shows the lengths that these guys will go to try to enforce this "patent" they claim to have."

Yeah well the good news is that they have a "HATING ACACIA SALE" 4 DAYS ONLY. 30% OFF ALL LACE TITLES!. LOL

No shit, GoDaddy was served papers huh, you think that since GoDaddy represents a paying client they would at least inform and try to do something about it.

I think that Godaddy may have just made a VERY expensive mistake. Does Acacia have a judgement against you? Did they present proof of a DMCA violation and proof that it was unanswered by you, your ISP, and others first?

Acacia may also have put themselves in line for a nice little lawsuit on this one as well, attempting to impede your business before judgement.

I agree Alex, there has to be a massive risk in GoDaddy and Acacia doing something like that. Hey but life is about balls they say and those with the biggest......

I think the statement made in the notice from Lace is correct. The court granted Acacia the right to go to the host because Lace did not answer the complaint.
