Will linklists change ?

I am seeing more and more that recriprical link exchanges aren't being given as much weight in google especially, or one way links are being given more weight ... anyhow the gap between the two is definitely widening. Linklists are designed around the recriprical link idea, and not sure if thats what can be attibuted to many link lists being bumped off the first page for popular keywords in the SE's ?

I believe LL's are still designed around getting good SE rankings (correct me if I am wrong please) ... so do you think that the way LL's and freesites are done is likely to change to keep step with changes in SE algorithims.... or do you think LL owners are happy with the LL model the way it is .. and we won't see a change any time soon ?

Just curious thats all

I'm curious too.

I've suffered a huge dip in traffic from my index page. I've a feeling that Google is less interested in index pages and now classes category pages as more relevant.

Same here, something is defenitely changing. Would love to see what the next trend will be.

link-lists recip usually contains two links : index-and-category... you get a link-back to your freesite from category page only... and how many links you get from declined freesites, average it's about 80% from what I heard.

As you know, I only ask for a recip to my index page.

As for 80% declines - that's way off as far as I'm concerned.

Having said that I'm not quite sure what your point is. You run a linklist.

eman, my reply was more to starting post

yep, if you ask for a linkback which goes to your index, that won't be a "reciprocal exchange".

Ahh good point. So the more rejected the more benefit to the LL (which indirectly benefits the submitters).

Though with so many linkbacks coming from a limited hostpool (c classes etc), I don't really think it would benefit the linklists that much. Rejecting every 2nd freesite will still have link exhanges of sorts between the 2 domains so not sure they will count as fresh 1 way links.

I wonder if there is such a way that LL's could benefit from a 1way link exchange. suppose it would be very hard to do .. I sure cant get my brain around it

Recip Importance

IMHO Its pretty old news that one way URLs are valued and plain recips are devalued in G. That's why your seeing so much of the three way recip proposals amongst WM's. This trend will continue and has to benefit WMs that have a breadth of domains. At some point you can still influence your own domains if you have enough of them by various linking schemes.

I think the adjustment that LL's might have to make to stay current is to more agressively add additonal sources of traffic delivery like RSS and updated text content mixed with their links and maybe even around them. And anybody not readying for wireless is just planning to go out of business.

One bonus the LL always has is good descriptions around the links. So if the recip is devalued the anchor and content might not be.
