Custom Recips

Is there a consensus from Link List owners on what the minimum font size should be?

Is it different from bold to regular fonts?

What is the ideal number of recips from a Link List owners perspective?

Is it acceptable to put your own small Link List on the recip table?

Are there postions on the table that LL owners prefer on the table like centers or outsides? I know some specify that they want to be near the larger lists and towards the top...

Thanks!

Just don't make the recips too small, keep the around the size of the original ones if you're not sure.

The ideal number of recips.. for me that's 9-15 recips.

You can put your own linklist between the other ones if you actually submit that site to your linklist. Otherwise it's considered an extra outbound link.

Put the recips wherever you want. Everybody wants to be near the biggest LL.

Thanks for your input Fonz... I've been using 12...To me more than that seems cluttered.

What Fonz said.
I'd say I prefer to be on top of the page - the higher the better (more chances surfer will spot your link and click on it first ) but I dont really give a shit. And I belive (and hope) no LL owner would decline site for placing his/her recip in wrong place (of course as long as recip is visible, above ENTER and whatsnot)
Personally I add links in random order (by hand) every time I build a free site and it works good for me.

Nope, doubt you'll find a consensus. Keep them reasonably visible and you should be fine.

Of course there's a difference between bold and regular. Again, visibility is key here. Sometimes bold can actually be harder to see if the font size is too small.

As to number of recips, it's all over the map. With the pre-made recips of most lists, 12-15 is probably about the limit to keep a decent looking page. With custom recips, you can squeeze in a few more and keep the page looking good. But definitely read the rules...seems to me I recall some lists now capping the total number of recips. Myself, I build with 16 custom.

Yep, it's acceptable providing your link list is a fully functioning site that takes submissions. As Fonz said, otherwise it becomes one of your outbound links...and it probably shouldn't be in the recip table.

I am debating on using custom recips, the thing I dont like about them is that they all blend togther, plus I jump all around in niches, so who knows what I will do...

imo using the LL's rcips gives a FS index character...

good replies in this thread...

I like to mix up my recips, like Mateusz, as well - although, I do tend to favor some recips more than others, and tend to keep them near the top. I'm also a custom recip hippie, and I give everyone 2 links at font size 12 in easy to read type faces like helvetica, arial, or verdana. I used to use 20 recips but I'd like to start using 16 - because I mix things up I don't want to have to keep track of how to treat whom.

The hippie way seems to upset the fewest number of people.

I think custom recips look better than having a mix of LL's tables and images in all different colors. I have been listing them from left to right and top to bottom by Alexa rank to try to group the bigger players together.
