ARS' BYOT is going, going... soon to be gone!
Hello Everyone-
ARS just anounced that they are closing BYOT submissions and working on a new BYOT II program Hopefully, this should mean higher conversions and more $$ for webmasters, not to mention the end of headaches and problems for ARS. However, for designers like me who invested a good amount of money for content to make a new tour.... then to go to submit it two days after submission was closed, its not so bright yet Announced from ARS: "The ARS BYOT program is currently being restructured to make it a more profitable program for webmasters. Because of this, we have stopped accepting applications for new BYOTs. The changes coming out with the restructured program will include exclusive content provided to use in the tours, ability to set up the member's area with the graphics and content you used on the tour, and a more efficient application process. Please check back for updates on our progress. This is just one step in our process of re-inventing ourselves for growth in 2004." Another important feature as mentioned on the boards is that as of now: THERE WON'T BE A TRIAL MEMBERSHIP - Membership will be $29.99 - however as the new BYOT II program hasnt been launched, im sure details are sure to changed. So to all you webmasters out there who are designing BYOT tours out there... STOP! They wont be accepted! Also note to those webmasters promoting BYOT tours on their sites, you may want to be careful because it is unknown how long the regular BYOT tours may be up! And Finally.... I had just designed a Tour for the Gay Black niche similar to Thug Models which is one of the big sellers and had the highest conversion for Green Guy's gay links. However, this takes up the design a few notches and makes it hard and hardcore! So if anyone out there is interested, please PM me! thanks! -romeo |

romeoboi - I've got links to 600 BYOT's scattered around on my domains, so I am hurty by this as well, but ARS is giving us roughly 60 days notice on this, so while it is a shocker, it's easier to swallow knowing we have 60 days to get our shit straight
I do feel for very bad for the BYOT builders that have spent money on content & whatnot for this, but there's a lot of other aspects that I'm sure ARS will eventually touch on & 2 possible causes that go thru my head are: 1 - BYOT makers own licenses to the content - not ARS - and seeing as the tours are on ARS owned domains, content providers that are scumbag piece of shits are probably sueing ARS as I type. 2 - The content that the BYOT builders use is probably not on the inside of the members area, which is false advertising & probably results in a shitload of chargebacks/refunds. I'm sure ARS doesn't like paying out money to the webmaster for the sign up, refnding the member his money & paying the fees associated with the chargebacks. I'm a little pissed too about the lack of a trial on the new BYOT program, but from what I've read, with the content on the tours actuyally being inside the members area, it may be a little harder to promote, but probably more worth it |

Fuck
I just promoted my first BYOT this week. What will become of traffic that is still going to BYOT after the deadline? Well at least I only have a few hundred pages that will need to be changed. If this had been next week it would have been a few thousand pages. |

Cleo - from what I read on ARS they plan to redirect the old links to tours of the same category in the new BYOT program (lesbians to lesbians, cumshots to cumshots, etc) so worst case scenario is they hit a tour that's not the same as the name on the one you advertised them.

I was gonna venture into this this week
It would make so much more sense to leave the old sites alone and gradually phase em out a lot of people have a lot of money invested in this |

I specifically chose 2 BYOT sites to promote because there are no sponsor paysites in that niche.

Damn.. just spent 3 hours adding BYOT tours to my LL |pissed|
I'm really sceptic of trying to sell those $30 memberships to free site surfers. This should be a boost for all those $9.82 or $10 a month programs. |

What a shame...
I thought it was in the rules that one could only use content that ARS owned? And I would assume they had that content in the appropriate member area? Amazing that they would even allow such a thing - use of content they didn't own for tours that is. But here's a tip for v2: Designers are not necessarily coders. Having to add that php code is one reason some talented people didn't get too involved in the Ars byot program. There are other programs that do byot's but do not require the designer to code it. This works much better for designers I helped put together a byot and it took more time getting the php correct and resubmitting it than it took to design the whole site and promo stuff. |

Hey-
if there are other programs that have similar programs to BYOT's, please let me know! I designed a site that I fell could do really well... if I had the time and resources I would launch it as a paysite on my own, but I can't. |

blah
as far as content on the byot tours not being in the members area, it is. whenever you make a byot you have to say where every image on the tour was purchased, so they can purchase them and place them in the members area. thats one of the one things they did do correctly to avoid chargebacks...
im going to be hurt by this somewhat, all my byots combined bring in about $300/month and that is going to be all but gone soon... oh well, like gg said, atleast they are giving us plenty of notice out

No matter how good you are at something, there's always about a million people better than you

ARS are not the only sponsor doing BYOT. Check out the others until this all clears up and the next ARS BYOT system is released.

I believe ******** has a BYOT program but you may also want to click on the link to SponsorsList in my sig to see all adult affiliate programs out there and maybe see who else has one.
