Is that nice or what? No other inquiry but just this email and my account is disabled. What do you think? Very professional, isn't it?

Have you sent them traffic? If your account was inactive and hadn't sent hits I imagine you were caught up in a cleanout of probable surfers looking for free content. It's not practical to email each account holder and wait for a reply.

Yeah, unfortunately some sponsors do seem to handle things the way Shunga indicated in the first reply to your post.

We get webmasters signing up for CashFetish.com from time to time who either don't list any website at all on the signup form or list a site that isn't online yet or that isn't registered to them.

We don't just cancel or disable their account though. We do take the time to contact each one individually and ask them about it. We continue to do this because we've found that in many cases there's a real webmaster there and it was a simple mistake or they just wanted to list a new site they will be using to promote us, instead of another one they have online already.

I've been in your position, TA, where we signed up with a sponsor and didn't send any traffic right away since we'd planned to use that sponsor on a new project. But they were too impatient and canceled our account since we weren't sending them traffic. I guess it could almost go without saying that this sponsor is not one we'll be promoting anywhere now.

On a solo girl site or amateur site I'd have cut them a break and explained our reasons for not sending traffic yet, since the webmaster handling the affiliate program may not be very experienced with how they should handle things like this.

But with bigger programs, particularly those with multiple sites and lots of affiliates, I'll just add them to my list of those not worth dealing with and move on.

It's not like there aren't thousands of other sites to promote.

I've gotten a few of these over the last couple of years. Not one from Lisa though, I feel left out. It's never made any sense to me, way too much effort for very little benefit (if any) to the program. Lisa, or her webmaster, will soon find that out when they have to start dealing with all the webmaster email asking WTF is up.

P.S. I wish the signup forms allowed space to list multiple sites. Very few of us these days promote from a single domain.

I agree with you all, and I understand what Simon said, but I find that email quite unprofessional and disappointing. With the number of good sponsors out there why should I even consider promoting someone like this? I don't think it takes that much more time to send some kind of an inquiry first, and then decide who's account to disable.

Oh well, I have not gotten one of these in a while, so I guess I had to blow a bit of steam.

I know Lisa and she gets a TON of fan email and has a large following. She likely does get a lot of real surfers looking for free stuff. I'll send her an ICQ to let her know she should be careful when deleting accounts.

Update:

I don't know if it was the email I sent or the one Ramster sent, but I got a nice "sorry about that" response and an explanation as to what happened, plus my account is enabled gain.

That was quick and professional, I feel a whole lot better now.

She posted at a pornstar board to webmasters saying:

Hi guys,

I am so sorry for the over night email that my program automatically kicked out. I was playing around last week with the NATS emails and by no means was anything suppose to be sent.

Actually the email I was suppose to send was if you have no logged in lately please do so to update your payment history.

Once again when it rains it pours. I am so sorry again. Of course I treasure all my resellers and I do appreciate you all that have joined my program. I have enabled all accounts. If you feel there is an error please contact me.

At first, I would of said move on, don't think twice about promoting this site. But, it seems it was an honest mistake and she seems very sorry about the mess. Glad you got your issue resolved Tek.

I got that too. What bothers me is that although I may have not sent any traffic, I may have referred webmasters who do, and who make sales. I always wonder what happens to those referral payments - do they get canned as well? I ask as a whole, not particularly Lisa's program.

Also happened here but a quick email to Lisa and it was sorted with a big apology.

But, it's not just the first site to have done that lately, I think another two sponsors of mine have done it, one wasn't real whatsoever and was actually a very clever fake email so the webmaster was quick to send out an email to tell everyone - of course, a bit late for me who emailed the spoofter back lol.

Yeah that's the problem with using automated software that sends out emails on your behalf that may not be what you intended?

I get into a lot of trouble with LMA (a directory software) sending out all sorts of things, telling people they are suspended from the directory and stuff. I am going to stop using it.
