Prices for blu ray movies in usa

what are the cost for a blu ray movie on dvd in usa?
Here in holland you have to pay between the 30 euro and 35 euro a blu ray movie, so say about the 50+ usa dollars.

Now i could choose to buy my blu ray disk in usa, but that wont work, i found out that blu ray (or dvd ) movies are different in usa then in holland, our devices cant play usa movies, to diffecult to explain for me in english

IMO Blu Ray's draconian DRM just plain sucks and not worth the better picture, it's just not that much better.

I'm amazed and very happy the way my DVDs from Netflix ripped and played using my AppleTV looks on my 67" HD TV so at this time I have no burning desire to get a Blu Ray player.

Anyway DVDs are already like so yesterday with everyone coming out with Movie Boxes.

First the AppleTV
Then the Amazon TiVo movie rental deal.
Then the Netflix box.

Now this movie box.
http://www.vudu.com/

The only thing that sucks is each place requires their own box.

well the blu ray player i have can play all the normal dvd things also (good thing because i want to use my own burned and bought normal dvds also), i didnt know that there was a difference with that also, it all has to do with the amound of frames the damn player can show... there is more info, but to diffelcult for me to explain in english , i can in dutch
The truth is USA is way ahead with tech things then holland, what USA have will be the hit in holland, only there is a huge different in stuff, like the dvds, if we buy a movie on dvd we have an option on the dvd to choose between 15 different languages, i dont know if thats the same with USA dvds

I watched 'Behind Enemy Lines' on hulu.com with their 480P feed. They have a few HD feeds. Tons of TV shows, but, probably about 50 full length movies.

i readed about tivo telly thing, we dont have that here in holland...well i never seen it here, grin believe me we are way behind in that stuff here, same like digital telly or HD telly, you can only get HD telly here on one movie channel and you have to pay there about 20 euro a month for, s o hubby bought a Full HD telly of samsung, while we dont have hd telly here, also the size 16:9 those tvs they only sell here but all the channels hardly send out telly size 16:9, all send out 4:3...so most of the channels looks like shit, we watched the blu ray dvd "earth" yesterday its 1080P and i have to say , we went "wow" i didnt know movies could look that way, now if they would send out all programs on high definiton and 1080P then i would be a happy girl and know why my hubby spended so much money on that damn telly, btw now here in holland they are planning to send out all channels on HD this year october, still i dont get it, why the fuck only offer hd tvs, while there is no program sended out on telly in HD

Hubby bought the samsung le52a656 and the Samsung HT-BD2...waist of money i think because we dont have HD telly here and not the 16:9 and not to mention he is already busy for 2 days to get the home cinema connected to the telly, so that the damn thing will send the sound of the telly surrounded (if i say that right), on dvd it works great on telly sound for normal programs not, what bugs me more is that i had to pay 2 times the price in holland compair with the price in USA for that stuff......for real....i think my hubby has to sell his ass to get the money back he spended!

I have a Blu Ray only because when I did the theatre room Sharp had a new Blu Ray player that also upconverts and plays my regular DVDs. I really don't see much difference honestly between the actual Blu Ray (1080p)movie and one of my older DVDs that have been "upconverted" (720p-1080i). And that's on a 106" screen, 7 foot roughly side to side.

And yes in Holland/Europe EVERYTHING is expensive. I just spent 2 weeks in Italy and though things are relatively the same price when you take into account the conversion of the US dollar to the euro things become very costly.

And let me add that my satellite provider has hi-def channels and those channels give out amazing picture quality even though they are only 480p.

mmm maybe i should also mentioned that digital telly inst a commen thing in holland, when hubby bought that telly we had "analoog" telly (beats me how that is mentioned in usa) but digital telly is not used in holland much (to expensieve), but when buying a big telly you realy see the difference between "digital and analoog" , we had "analoog" so when we got the big telly, looking at it was a hell, i didnt wanna see all those bad stripes and snowy thing, so new thing we got digital telly, hugeeeeeeeeeeeeee difference !! in holland we have to relay what the companies offer us and that isnt much, like i said we are way behind on that tech stuff compaired with USA.
btw 106 is that inch? The biggest inch screen you can get here is 70 inch and that one cost 33000 euro so say about 52000 dollars

It's about the same here in the UK Stu though it might be more as i've seen Blu ray discs for anything upto £35.
I've been buying up HD DVD's which are far cheaper and with signing up to the various online DVD stores news letters, i've been getting deals like "buy any 3 for £12".

44.73 euro on a conversion site so you're spot on.

Just by signing up to the online stores you should be able to save a fair bit on electrical and DVDs etc.

I can't remember the last time i bought anything offline. lol

I was going to buy the TV that I have now from Amazon but then I was at the local store BestBuy looking at stands and they beat Amazon's price when I pulled it up on my iPhone.

I paid £750 for a full HD 42" screen, a 70" is about £4k but the contrast ratio is about 900:1 where as mine is 50,000:1, those big screens must be very blocky?

If you're interested in US prices, check Amazon. They usually have the best price on Blu-Ray discs. The average price is $20-$25 depending on the studio. You can pick up used discs for around $14-$17.

I miss the format war with all the buy-one-get-one-free sales. Since then the prices have been pretty lousy.

Most Blu-Ray discs are region free. So you can import many titles from other countries. Check the region-coding list here for more info:

http://bluray.liesinc.net/

The USA discs might not have the same language/subtitle options as the European discs. So check the USA Blu-Ray reviews for info on audio/subtitle options:
