WP-o-Matic - RSS Feeds
Hey all you WP-o-Matic users... I've been scouring the net today but can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone shed any light on how to use the Custom Template section?
Most of the RSS feeds I am getting from sponsors are set up in such a way that the "Content" includes a thumbnail of some description + the long text content. Is there a way to extract the image from the content, so that it can be incorporated in to a custom template? Any info would be great. Thanks |

I've been using the free version of gallery scraper to yank FHGs, build a thumbail, add some text then output that to an xml which I then am using to stock a fake TGP. I always wondered how to use those thousands of FHGs. :-)

Sound like a good idea. The only thing that sucks is to sending blogs traffic to FHGs where ratios is so damn crappy, like all rss feeds

Hey thanks for the replies. Really all I want to do is change the layout of the way the content is displayed... generally in my experience most feeds come in like so:
{content}<A HREF='blah'><img src='blah.jpg'></A><BR>Blah blah blah blah blah{content} At the moment I've either been pulling the content apart using php string functions and displaying the content in whatever format I require... however WP-o-Matic has a "custom template" section that I thought might automaticaly achieve what I want. I've had a quick look at ba, but I'll check both ba and bo out soon thanks for the info |

If you know enough php, just hack the wp-o-matic plugin to do what you want. I dont think the custom templates will work, because they dont split up the content of the post in the rss feed, which is what you are wanting to do.
If you are good with string functions and regex, it should be trivial to put in 2 lines of code in the while loop to do exactly what you want to each "post" in the array before it goes into your blog. I'm not all that great at php syntax or I'd offer to be more helpful. Really all you need is to do is delete the text inside the content before and after each linked image instead of trying to "extract" the image.
