Table Design affecting Search engine ranking
Does having a table design have a bad effect on search engine ranking?

Not that I've ever heard, unless something's really changed with the algos since I haven't been paying much attention. Most CMS products including blogs use a combination of divs and tables, or pick one of the two and stick with it.
I'd be amazed if tables hurt you, they're my go-to setup for building freesites and I still get decent SE traffic to freesites I built years ago |

No, tables don't have any affects on your search engine ranking because they are not part of the website content. Search engines are bots crawling and indexing websites, they never look at the HTML tags of the web page except the <title>, <meta> and some other tags but they don't care about the other ones. (like <td>,<tr>, etc.) because they "get rid of them" before defining the content of the page. There are many tools to view your site as it would appear for search bots, check it and if your content appears (and it should appear) there is nothing wrong because search engines are not unable to find your content, else double check the source of the page because there should be something that prevents search engines from seeing that part of the page. (For example if the table is inserted using iFrame)
