# of words in text Link Description- more or less?
Hey folks,
In AEBN they have the hosted galleries and allow you to select the # of words for the description from a dropdown. 3,4 or 5 word descriptions. Does anyone have any data that shows a shorter or longer description is more likely to get people to click? I sort of like the 5 word description for link text because without an image I feel the more descriptive the better. But there must be a reason they have the drop down and the choice for just 3 word descriptions. ![]() What do you pick and have ya played around between 3 vs 5 word descriptions? What tends to be the common thought on which is better in this case? |

Submission scripts vary on the number of letters they allow in the description field. That's the reason.

I prefer longer descriptions, figure more for the spiders to chew on.
