scripts
Hello fellow webmasters
I have been toying with the idea of using scripts and was wondering what the industry is using. I see there is literally thousands out there and want to make a smooth transition into installing the script for my site. Questions: what are the benefits of using scripts such as Mysol,CGI,ect.? Question2 is it beneficial for submitting to TGPs?: Questions:3 if building a site using only search engine what would a reliable script and easy to use and install? Many thanks

1. Your pages will get more dynamic. You'll be able to store and process stuff on your site. MySQL is basicly to store data that is submitted or so to your site. you can retrieve it and show it on your site in combination with mostly PHP.
2. there are several services out there that let you submit your sites to 1000+ of the smaller TGP's at once but the bigger ones all require hand submits. These scripts are usually pay per month.. the biggest one is Russian Submitter last time I checked. 3. it depends on what you want it to do ![]() If you want to build your own SE you'll probably need to spend a few years learning several coding languages ![]() |

Hiya!
![]() mySQL, CGI/Perl, PHP and the like are not scripts per se - they are programming languages, with the exception of mySQL which is a database engine. If you are merely building freesites/galleries then the benefit of using technology like this is going to be rather limited. One or two steps up the ladder though and you will DEFINITELY want to start plugging in applications using them.
