What to do about spam ?

I am about to go out of my head with all the spam that I have been receiving. I was wondering what anyone else might be doing to combat it ? I know there are a lot of spam filtering products out there, but I am afraid of blocking confirmation messages or other messages from TGPs/sponsors, etc. I know I'm not the only one with this problem, so can anyone recommend a workable solution ? Any recommendations appreciated.
