![]() Ok, so I was wondering when is it time to move on from a sponsor? I seem to be increasing my traffic to my sponsor well enough but I am not seeing the results I expected. I am finishing with ratios such as 1:1400, 1:1300, 1:2500 and so on and so on. I am making sales but not at the rate I was hoping for (who does make sales at the rate they hope for?

If you're consistently doing worse than 1:1500 I'd say it's time to start looking around. I think I know who you're talking about, and if it's any comfort I'm not doing too well with them either.
I think it's a good idea to try out new sponsors regularly. Maybe give a new sponsor 3 freesites/month, that should be enough to get a feel for how they convert and if it's worth your time to extend that "trial period".

I think you should spread out your traffic to a few sponsors. Overall keep an eye on who does better for you. And not just sales, but money. So if you make 3 free sites for 3 different sponsors a week you can check money earned rather than just ratios and then make 5 sites the next month for the best one and only 2 for the other 2. (As an example).
My experience is a sponsor that is sucking this month might do good 2-3 months from now. New tours maybe, new trailers, whatever. |

How are you increasing traffic to your sponsor? Doing it by adding blind or semi blind links will make for bad ratios but might increase sales. If you're increasing something like targetted SE traffic then you should get better ratios and more money.
Listen to Ramster and pay attention to the money. |

Are those numbers daily, weekly, monthly or what? How are you promoting? Some sponsors get hot and then cold and others are pretty consistant oveall. If you ask me the only person that can decide if it's time to move on is you. How much of your time do you spend to get those kind of numbers....if it's not profitable then...well, you know what the answer is. ![]() |

Some excellent points in this thread.
Tommy can definitely send traffic. ![]() ![]() What I wanted to add was that from a stats perspective, there is a big difference in the kinds of traffic you may get from link lists. All of the best link lists have a lot of inbound search engine traffic. Someone searches for 'fetish' on Google, clicks a search result to wind up at Tommy's or Greenguy's or another of the big lists. Now they click again to select the fetish category (or bondage or bdsm or whatever they like), and then select a free site to come visit. Nice filtered traffic, and fresh from a search engine too. I love to get a visitor to our tour pages at that point. ![]() But not all link lists are created equal. Keep in mind that some link lists get most of their traffic from trading traffic with other link lists who trade with other link lists, and so on. With traffic of that sort, you can still make sales, but remember not to expect the same ratios you can get with link lists that have fresh SE traffic all day long. Moby's questions about how you send the traffic are important to consider too. You can get 2-3x the click-thru with some copy changes, but not get one more sale from the traffic. You can also tune your copy and layout for less traffic but more sales.

Also, hit up a friendly sponsor rep and let he or she check out your pages. And if you havent yet, request a members area pass to see exactly what you're promoting too. Maybe you'll come up with a few more selling points the competition isn't using.

Not much to add here, all very valid points!
I did have one sponsor i used that was converting 1:10,000 *sick face* talk about yucky!! I continued the link for one more month and then changed the links after no better ratios to a sponsor that I knew converted well for me. I found it wasn't just the sponsor it was the traffic I was sending. I needed to make sure that my traffic was targeted to the sponsor/s I was choosing. I guess in a nutshell *blush* I'm saying check out your targeted traffic and make sure your sponsor is matched up to it well. Just my 2cents |

I'm always hesitant to leave a sponsor...for example in july I had a sponsor that was rocking 1/200 ...next month 1/2900..this month back down to 1/500... I can live with that...and I almost gave up on this sponsor...
I had another sponsor that was for a solo girl site...I thought I was in luck I havent seen anyone else promoting this girl...the last time I checked I was 0/5000...which bothered me but I was going to keep promoting except this sponsor has never updated their webmasters area...that was the deal breaker |

I had a couple of similiar sponsors, and I dropped them. If they don't keep the webmaster area up to date, I get cautious about what is going on in the members area. That caution combined with crappy ratios made me bail. Generally speaking, if I know the program is solid, I will try to just ride out the ebb and flow of things. Plus I diversify, and always have 3-4 "main" sponsors. |

Live and learn. And take very careful notes!

i keep my eye on all my old sites, yep even those from 4 years ago, if an sponsor dont convert, well i change them , i always worked that way, and if i was a bit wiser before i started this bizz then i should know which domains i have and which sites, so ones in awhile i find out i have some sites with dead sponsors or no converting sponsors for a long time........like today, realy sometimes i can slap myself, i am to sloppy in this bizz............

Talk to your rep....if he/she knows what they are talking about, they should look at your sites and make suggestions...
I know you've come a long way, since your early days, binxgook...but, you can't go wrong if you listen to Ramster and Sir Moby.... ![]() Is it just your conversions? And, is this a pay per sign up program? Or revshare... I've learned, with my own sites, that sometimes it isn't ALWAYS me...maybe their tour needs to be refreshed....or they made changes to the tour that aren't working as well....with their traffic...

If the sponsor has more than 1 site, you simply can't lump them all together.
Site A can convert at 1:50 Site B converts at 1:7000 What's your combined ratio??? Who cares, drop Site B and promote Site A. This isn't rocket science.

There is one thing that I am sure of and that is that I will never understand this bizz lol
I have been studying my traffic lately and with having my stats program that have all the info from all the sponsors it makes it more easy to keep an eye on things. I have been sending traffic and promoting sponsors that I have been working with for some time. At the beginning I had good convertion ratio, but the last 6 months the ratio at some sponsors has gone down and when I got ratio at one sponsors in August with 1:7796 compared to an average of 1:1400 I decided that it was time to change where I send my traffic. I also had some other sponsor where I had about the same results and took some of the traffic away from those places as well. I started to send this traffic to another sponsor that I have been doing good with and the traffic sure made me more sales at the other sponsor. Actually I was down at 1:262. But when I had taken away some traffic from the bad converting sponsors they started to sell again. And after a week with kick-ass sales at the place I had redirected my traffic to the ratio dropped there as well. I will keep an eye on things and move my traffic to other sponsors if the bad ratio keeps on to see what happens. But I really do not understand why those things happen, but I am sure there is an explanation for it lol |
