Managing recip tables - can it be done automatically?
Hi,
Im making freesites at the moment and when im submitting them, im changing round the recips so that each one has the right LL mentioned. The thing is, im doing this rather painstakingly by hand. Is there any tool out there that can help me automate this? Preferably freeware, though Im not completely objecting to paying - its just im still yet to make a sale and i want to keep my outgoings as low as possible for now. Any help greatfully appreciated! <!--#include file="/somefolder/somefile.shtml" --> where on somefile.shtml the recip table is located. But be careful, I think most linklists donŽt allow SSI. If IŽm right we discussed this on the board. Do a little research and maybe youŽll find replies. |

You could use SSI as stated or PHP includes.. but you would need ot "hide" the fact that your pages are SSI or PHP pages as no LL/TGP will accept "dynamic" pages and they'll probably ban you if they find out.
I was going to go that route but right now all I do is prepare files with the groups of recips for the appropriate niches. Then when I make the mirrors I just cut and paste.. takes time to prepare all the files but cutting and pasting doesn't take that long. eg: harcore-1.html harcore-2.html harcore-3.html lesbian-1.html lesbian-2.html lesbian-3.html I try and make sure each "number" contains recips to the exact same LLs. So if I had the LOR recip in #2 and needed to change it, I would just edit all the -2 files. I use a spreadsheet to keep track of which # contains which recips. |

I'm not aware of any lists having specific rules about using ssi or php includes. That is providing of course your server is fast enough to 'include' those includes seemlessly. And that your server is properly configured to parse the pages to .html instead of .php or .shtml.
You're right in that link lists don't like dynamic pages for a variety of reasons. However, if your server is fast enough and correctly configured...there's no way a reviewer would even know you're using includes. When doing free sites, I have a series of .txt files. I submit to 48 link sites...16 recips per page...so three recip tables per niche. Similar to Viper, I simply name those .txt files as needed, ie.. amateur.txt amateur2.txt amateur3.txt Then insert the include into the index page html... <!--#include virtual="/ssifolder/niche.txt" --> Once the intitial harvesting of recips and layout of the tables is done (tedious, but necessary), the above method works quite well ![]() I'm not aware of, nor would I endorse any software that somehow harvests and/or creates recip tables automatically. But then, as a reviewer I've seen some damn ugly recip tables so my opinion is probably biased in that respect ![]() |

I have been using free site wizard at http://wizardsoftware.biz/
It's not free it's like $30 bucks but does help keep things in order. I would recommend if you do buy it that you build your own DB with it. They have alot of the LL recips from many of the LL owners you find here, but the recips they use are wrong, out of date or just a general recip. If you take the time to work with the software and build your own it can cut down the recip process to the point were all you really have to do is built the site, point the software at and index with some small code in it and it will generate the recips and the pages for you. You can then use it to submit the pages. Now let me say first off its not an auto submitter. All it will do is take you to the LL submit page and fill in some of the info. Picking the cat and sometimes entering in a title or description of the site is what you will need to do on some sites. But its better then doing it the full manual way. I was doing that and it would take me all day to built and submit to 15 to 20 LL. Keeping track was a bitch. Hope this helps. |

Right there are a few interesting things here I really need to look into further. Ive never used SSI before, but it looks like it can do the job well, but needs a bit of setting up. This business has become a total mine field in terms of things to remember and do per page, let alone per site!
Im looking at that wizard software, and whilst it looks good - from what i can see - I wouldnt mind using a demo before I buy the product. Im really trying to keep my outgoings low at the moment - I have a load of things I need to purchase, hosting being the biggest one currently, but I need to keep my outgoings down as I also need to find another Ł2000 for my house deposit! ![]() Out of interest, how long is it taking you guys to make a freesite (entrance, index, 2 galleries?) I have spent about 14 hours on just one today, although it is my first and im still not totally there with it. Well, in fact im miles off but i keep getting distracted which doesnt help. I figured if I can get it to take 2-3 hours a day, including SEO, submitting and recips im well on my way. I just feel massively overwhelmed at the moment ![]() |

Frankly, after reading all the rules and stuff on all these links lists (I haven't done submissions of any sort in 4 years), I'm going to have to go and change my TGP submission rules to be easier for newbies.. I never realized how much us WMs running TGPs/LLs sound like major assholes with all our rules and "I'll ban you for this.. I'll ban you for that" talk... Damn... We've all gotten so freakin cynical dealing with cheaters and stupid submitters all the time that we've ended up turning into the enemy. No wonder we just get slammed with auto-submitted crap in the hope we'll take something. Instead of bitching and moaning about everything I'm just going to use technology to prescreen things a lot more. |
