Patent This Auction Site

As you may know I've been very vocal and active in fighting Acacia and their patent claims. Today I'm stepping it up.

At the moment there are 11 defendants in court contesting the patent. These people are fighting for us all, even the companies who licensed with Acacia. They are spending their own money so we can carry on doing business as we use to.

Our auction site is to raise money for the defense fund. All the money raised, less the processing fees, will be donated to the fund. The site is now up and running, so we are kicking it off with two of our SPECIAL OFFER sets.

For those who cannot afford to bid there is a $10 set for sale that automatically gives buyers a ticket in the drawer for one of our specials. That will be ready in an hour or so.

So come on in, bid and bid often, you know it's in a good cause.

Will be putting up more soon and hopefully will be having donations from other people to offer. Anyone with anything to donate can ICQ ME HERE all donators get a banner up while they have an item in the auction.

So this is a new site and very much in the planning stage so comments are also welcome.

With the “Test Auction” we ran last week we raised $616.25 and added to it $30 which is 20% from the purchases of those that registered on our site via my “Fight Acacia” threads. So today a check goes in the post for $646.25 not a bad start but I'm sure we can all do better.

Do me and all of us a favor and bump the thread, please.

So, I hired a programmer to make a javascript that would make pictures of our family pop up It cost me about $100 and I have all the paperwork. Is it posible I can patent pop-ups?

Greenguy, how about starting another GG&J acacia fund drive? I have no problems donating a signup or two to counterattack acacia, but I'm not so likely to participate in an auction. As long as you are satisfied that the money is being put to good use, I would think a donation drive should be able to scrape up another thousand or so.

I don't know how much hassle would be involved tho.

Hi Paul -

I posted to ya on another board this morning that the page didnt appear to be accepting signups. Well, I got an email saying I was now registered, but even after logging in, I cannt get anything to happen clicking the "place bid" link. I've tried in both Mozilla 1.5 and IE 6, to no avail.

I found out the site is not working properly. we will fix it soon.

Sorry but after some problems Thursday the site is now working.

Will be annoucing the highest bidder tomorrow and the winner of the raffle. The raffle did very badly and needs to be thought about. But the site is going to bring some money to the defense fund and that's what it's about.

Need to do some work on the site over the holiday, it's still got room for improvement.

In the two weeks of the Patent This Auction has been running, we have raised over $900.

We sent off a check this week for the first weeks auction of $616.00 (Still waiting on one guy to send his $130) And this week we raise over $880 which will go off as soon as we get the money in.

So not bad for a half arsed attempt to raise money. I promise it will get better and the raffle will also be running properly, have to work out who won that from the orders placed for the sets.
