Random SEO Question..
Here is the random SEO question of the day...
Is it better to rank high for "niche" one and two-keyword terms vs low for broader terms, or vice versa? In several niche terms that only get about 5 to 10K searches a month, I rank on the first and second page of Google, some of them even number one. (I realize this is nothing to write home about). In the bigger, broader terms, I am in the back 40. Since obviously I don't want to stuff my posts or tags etc, is it best to concentrate on the smaller niche stuff or to go for the bigger guys? Or should I do six of one and half a dozen of the other? Hope this makes sense, I have not been up too long. And please and TIA. |

Never mind.
In looking at other search terms I realize it doesn't matter. Sorry to have bothered. =( |

While not all phrases are of equal value, seems to me the further away from the #1 spot the less valuable is the traffic.
If the totals are about the same, I'd rather have bunches of small #1 spots then a single #293 spot.

Generalized terms usually will result in general traffic that results in more traffic if you are lucky enough (or good enough) and usually result in higher ratios. (1:5k) |

Ok well thank y'all for chiming in..
I have to admit I got a bit disheartened after reading some posts on another webmaster board, and they were talking about how you can get to page one on google for some search terms in that click range (10K or so) with just a site that has the keywords in the name lol.. But on the other hand, I figure if I place high for several of longtail key words it should help, right? So like y'all said I will just keep doing sites about the fetishes I know about and using relevant keywords, and I do agree with virgohippy, I think, that it's probably better to have several placements in the 1 to 20 range for 5 or 10K/month keywords than to place on page 30 for something like bdsm etc.. |
