![]() Bloody finally gave in to all the nagging screens and updated my ICQ Lite, only to find next time I opened my IE to submit, that ICQ had installed a toolbar without even asking -
is now everybody hi-jacking my browser? ![]() Bloody thing went right under the (voluntarily installed) Google toolbar and took up all the space which Roboform usually needs! And Roboform is the reason I'm using IE for some things because it's making submissions so much easier...

... I would have hoped that after installing the bloody Service Pack 2 (which is giving me so much trouble) Microsoft would have at least found a way to block installations like this or would pop up a window asking me beforehand - like every other time when they repeat their stupid question: "Do you really really want to do this?" - which pops up 10 times when in explorer you simply want to see system files with extensions...

Hi,
Not sure what the limitations on this version are as opposed to a full download, but I use this web based version: http://go.icq.com/ and never had any problems with it. You may find it useful ![]() |

The Mac version can't do stuff like this. It also does not have ads or anything like that.

No offence Apu, but when they were handing out religions you must have been out taking a whizz

I have ICQ Lite (just downloaded it last week to replace Trillian) and when I downloaded it there was a check/uncheck box asking if I wanted to also download the toolbar. I didn't check it and nothing was automatically installed.
So far - so good. Lite is cool because it takes up less resources than the old version - which is why I *used* to prefer Trillian but without all the bugs. It's been a nice change. ![]() |

Operator! Give me the number for 911!

I hate software that does that! If you right click on the toolbar area it should show you a list of all toolbars, just uncheck the new one and it shoud disappear off of your screen.
