Recips on link list

Most link list rules state that the link back does not have to be on the first page. I have noticed that most recips are placed on the "warning page". Do link list owners have a preference?

Is 4 to 12 recips, pretty much the standard?

If you place a link on a page to a hub and/or free sites that you own, do you give up a link to your sponsor on that page?

Again every place is different, but I do somewhere between 6 to 12 recips per page on the warning page and I give up a sponsor spot to give a nice big spot back to my link list. Also I put a link back to my hub, after passing them through a targeted FPA, under my enter link and at the bottom of gallery number two. I only do one sponsor ad per page so giving up a sponsor spot isn't an issue with me.

I really don't have a preference as to what page it is.. index, mirror, main.
What I do care about it who I am linked with, but more importantly, what your site is actually like.
If your site sucks (not saying yours do - just a statement here )
I won't list it.
