Traffic Percentage ???

What percentage of traffic is there between google and yahoo traffic for the same major keyword. Im trying to figure out the traffic ratio for say the keyword "free porn" in google to the keyword "free porn" in yahoo. Now "free porn" is just an example but other high terms can be used in its place.

Another question I have is for sites who are in the top 40 - 60 for high keywords. Do surfers search the 4th page to the 6th page or do they stop at 3rd. If you are on the 5th or 6th page do you still get decent traffic? This question is for both google and yahoo so any input would be good. Just trying to do a little reach search to figure out where I am and where I need to be.

Hmm didn't think this would be a hard question. Im not asking for facts or numbers but a estimated guess percentage would do just fine.

Joe, There are a few probs with the question..

1. I dont think many people are ranked for one keyword in both yahoo and google...... so judging one vs. the other would be hard.

2. I dont think people are going to give you numbers, not becuase they are being secret, but because they dont count them... I have a number of top 5 listings on Google, but I couldnt tell you what the listing sends me numbers wise... I am just glad to have it

On deep page surfers... yes surfers do get to the 3rd,4th, etc pages... but it would normally be for specific and niche type searches.. and that surfer looking for "specifics" is a good surfer to sell to if you have what he is looking for.

You will NOT get the numbers in those deep pages that you can get on the first page results..... but the number of freeloaders is markedly decreased, so the quality should be better.

Standard rule - the default search results page for each SE gets the most traffic. - eg: Google first 10 results.

Hi Joeblack,

Expect around 35% from google and 30% from yahoo.
Also, I think MSN is around 20%.

This is the reason many webmasters target only these 3 SE.

Now about your SE placement...

The bad news:

MOST surfers ONLY visit 1st page results, a small % maybe will visit second page.

The good news:

You can rank highly in SE BUT if you just starting out DON'T go after keywords like :

porn, free porn,e.t.c

Try to find niche specific keywords with less competition...

My stats tell me that Yahoo has been much more generous to me than Google. Yahoo's bot is much more forgiving and somewhat retarded. Google is still a bit pieved at me for leaving my site stagnant for so long, then ripping out its guts and renaming all of the pages. I'm willing to kiss Google's balls, but Google only wants a kiss on the cheek.
